We should have won 4 out of 5 of those matches on the balance of play. It’s not something I’m worried about, we have the best squad in the league.

This motivated me to have a look at the current odds:

Chesterfield 2/1
Wrexham 7/2
Notts 7/1
Boreham Wood 7/1
Grimsby 7/1
Stockport 11/1
Bromley 14/1
Dagenham 14/1
Halifax 25/1

Bromley and Halifax definitely too long for me, possibly Stockport as well. Wrexham probably too short but obvious why.
Stockport at 11/1 looks a good price.

Yeah agreed, we are behind where we should be in terms of points. Long season ahead but I have full faith.

Only one win from those five as well. But I think monotonously beating all of the mid-table and below teams is what you need to do, more so than raising it against rivals near the top (as we keep doing every season). It was what got Sutton over the line last season.
True enough. Although we’ve won 5 and drawn 2 out of the 7 games we’ve played against the bottom 11, so it looks like we’re getting better.

No idea whether this all means anything, but I think it’s fair to say that there are at least 2 properly shite teams this season and we haven’t played either of them yet.

A quick look at Chesterfield’s fixture list tells us that they’ve played 10 out of the bottom 12 sides including all of the bottom 4 and therefore only 5 out of the top 12.

In other news. I can’t get a girlfriend for some reason.
They seem to play Wealdstone or Dover at home every matchday.

If Chesterfield can have 699 players out injured and still be top the title is done. Looking at the league it’s only Stockport outside the top 10 that can realistically creep up, be a straight shoot out for everyone else not the top 10 for play offs don’t fancy Solihull one bit so they might fall behind soon with Stockport taking their place in the scrap.

Unspeakable sarcasm from the Chessie lads for pointing out the realities of the fixture list…

Their psychologists would undoubtedly be diagnosing a touch of imposter syndrome. C’mon lads don’t worry, you’re there on merit!

But Chesterfield didn't beat Dover
Can you make sure you just role over and have your bellies tickled this weekend please? We have a hard enough time beating teams who haven't won all season anyway without you actually trying

The league so far has not gone too far away from what was expected.

The only surprises are that ourselves and Wrexham have been poorer than expected. Could cost both in terms of any battle for top spot but I'd surprised if both aren't in the top 7. I really do believe we'll be much better under Challinor than Rusk and I think Parkinson is solid enough not to let the train go off the track at Wrexham. Notts are going about par I'd say.

Chesterfield are the frontrunners. A lot did fancy them, I think I did go for them 1st as well. They've not let anyone down.

Bromley, Boreham Wood and Halifax have been in around the play offs for the last few years, I don't think it's a major shock they've all started well. Grimsby, Solihull and Dagenham were also in my top 8.
Swap Torquay and Grimsby around and my pre-season preview is pretty accurate so far. Quite chuffed with really tipping Bromley to challenge for the title as they’re living up to it. Think the lack of knowledge of the manager put a few off from properly committing to it but they’re certainly going to be in and around it.

Yep this exactly, the year Barnet pipped Bristol Rovers and ourselves in 2015 we beat them home and away but Barnet always beat all the shite teams easily whereas us and Bristol Rovers both dropped points regularly to some of the strugglers.

I can't believe you're gonna have an easier run in due to getting all the rock hard fixtures out the way first, unbelievable that no one is doing anything about this, it really isn't fair

Do I detect a little bit of Notts-Chesterfield BEEF here?

It’s been a low-level beef since we played them in the play-offs at the end of last season tbh.

According to whom?

In reply to the Notts fan, no sarcasm from moi, we have the best squad in the league. We are top of the league and we've had between 7-10 players out injured for pretty much every match this season. Certainly not saying we'll win the league, it's far too early for that, but I don't see any other squad in this league who could cope with the losses we've had.

To reiterate; we've played with Stefan Payne up top for a number of matches and are still top of the league.

Our last eight are Southend, Torquay, Kings Lynn, Weymouth, Dover, Aldershot, Dover, Alty and Maidenhead.

If we can maintain the 4 point gap to Chesterfield going into that the title is ours IMO.
