So 1st Jan, Peterborough (Or Oil Money Wrexham) put in a bid for him.

Chesterfield rightly reject it, but Tshimanga isnt happy and wants to progress his career further, so he downs tools. Doesnt perform to try and force a move through, and gets dropped from the first team. results take a hit and you slowly start to slide down the table.

Last day of the transfer window and the manager is fed up with his attitude, another bid comes in, lower than the first ones, but you feel obliged to accept it otherwise you have an unhappy camper for rest of the season. however accepting that bid so late on means that you are in a mad scramble to replace him, and you end up with Joe Quigley....

Its happened oh so often. You wouldnt be the first and you wont be the last.
That whole scenario of panic buying a striker isn’t relevant to us anyway. I’ve already said if Tshimanga was to be sold, who’s to say a replacement even needs bringing in considering we will still have Danny Rowe and the returning Akwasi Asante?

Tshimanga doesn’t strike me as the type of character to down tools and kick up a fuss either, and he seems to have a very good relationship with James Rowe. I’m sure if he wanted to leave, he’d be open and honest and express it early on in the window and we’d see whether we could sell him for what he’s worth. If that wasn’t possible, he’d stay put until at least the summer. The club are in a great position, he signed a 3 year deal in the summer, they’d be under absolutely no pressure to sell him if they felt his valuation wasn’t met.

Plus he’s only 24, it’s not like he’s chasing that one last big pay day meaning he has to panic and jump at the first opportunity of a few £££’s being waved in his face, he’s got plenty of time on his side to progress to wherever he wants to be.

It'll come down to what is worth more to the club, promotion back to the FL and the finances that come with it, or selling Tshimanga. I honestly can't see us accepting a bid of less than £1M.
Yeah and that's absolutely fair enough, you've got to weigh up what's right for the club. I just can't see many clubs bidding much more than £1M.
Tshimanga will go to Posh in January for an ‘undisclosed fee’, there has never been a more certain transfer in the history of football. They signed Harry Taylor from Barnet for a fair old amount so Chesterfield will at least get a decent amount of cash. The only question will be whether or not they manage to reinvest it successfully.
Posh have really screwed up our Dembele sell on clause money though by letting him run his fucking contract down. One window left for us to get something out of that.
? Vardy went for a £million. Indeed he was the FIRST to move out of non League for that price. :£
Oh my mistake then, I thought it was 975k for some reason.

It's impressive how many football agents and directors of football with in depth knowledge of transfers we have on here. I never knew Pini Zahavi was Grimsby fan who lived with his parents while moonlighting in a warehouse.

Not sure if that's aimed at me or not, but I'll reiterate - if you think you're getting £2M for a 5th tier striker you're off your rocker.

Chesterfield fans getting carried away shocker.

Tshimanga is very good, I think we should have gone for him, but when I think about other players I've seen who have gone from here into the league hes certainly not better than Vardy, I dont think he's better than Andre Grey either. He may be on a par with other top attacking players over the years like Bogle, Ricky Miller, Amond etc but none of them went for anywhere near 2 million. I suppose it depends on his salary but I just can't see it.

Exactly, Vardy went for £1M when Fleetwood were being heavily backed and had been promoted. Bogle went for less than that having banged in 20 goals in L2 before the end of the Jan window. There aren't a huge amount of examples of strikers being sold from L2 around the £2M mark as far as I'm aware. Any offer of £1M at this level is enough to test any board's resolve.

It looks like Vardys transfer fee total was 1.7m, with 1m up front. Although a transfer 10 years ago might not bear that much relevance to today's market anyway. More recently we flogged the likes of Sam Clucas for around £1.4m and I think he had less than a year left, plus a couple others for around a mill I think. Strikers are obviously more expensive, especially young ones who are fast, strong, incredible record and score different types of goals with plenty of years to run. If he did go I'd expect it would be more to do with what was written into his contract rather than what the board was willing to accept. Tshimanga is the most saleable asset I think I can remember us ever having, I don't think I'm being too bullish when I say that? Lester obviously insane but he was old.

No no no you're doing it wrong my friend with your reasoned arguments...

Tshimanga is worth 37 pence and Rodrigues is worth ONE BILLION DOLLARS.

Clucas was proven in a level as high as League One, where players are sold on for over £1m. A quick wiki search also tells me he had 2 years left on his contract. If anything, that all backs up the point that no club is going to value Tshimanga at £2m.

Someone definitely NOT triggered here.

Chessie fans have gone a bit mad this week. All this talk of easily having the best squad, Tshimanga being worth £2m, pulling away from the pack in the new year, etc etc. Is it because they are finally top of the league again for the first time since their initial couple of games down here a few years back?

I don't see how it's getting carried away by saying we have the best squad. Key word being squad as opposed to Starting XI. Just seems obvious really. Tshimanga being worth 2mil I agree is pie in the sky, doubt we'd get over a milli.

Youve got Denton in your squad. So that immediately disqualifies you from having the best squad, regardless of how good any of the others are.

Sacrilege. Tom's a cracking player at this level. Obviously can't press with him in the team but he's a great option off the bench or if you're facing a packed defence, we'd have a better points tally if he was fit this season I reckon but unfortunately given his injury setback he'll be gone at the end of the season.

Why is it mad to believe you have the best squad in the league?

The fact we are top with our injury list is testament to that, i doubt there are too many other squads here that would have coped as Well as we have.

Tshimanga is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay, simple as. I don't think any CFC fan truely believes for a second we'd actually get £2m for him, not when you factor in agents etc but i don't think it's a crime putting that sort of price tag on him. Why should we sell one of our assets for a few quid and a multi-pack of crisps?

Having watched both personally I can honestly say Tshimanga is a much better and more marketable asset, but you do you man, all opinions at the end of the day isn't it, we're all just pissing in the wind about something that hasn't happened and might not happen. It's just nice to have players others are interested in instead of squads of shite down the arse end of the table every year

I might be getting confused with someone else about the contract length, we sold off all the Crown jewels that season, it's when the downward spiral started! We got good fees for a bunch of players and all the money went absolutely nowhere, crooks

Agree with this FWIW. Don’t think there’s much between us on starting elevens, but there’s no way we could cope with the number of injuries you’ve got. We had a mini injury crisis for a couple of weeks earlier in the season and promptly lost all three games, and that was only three or four players (albeit all in the same position).

Spot on Dan. No one is saying the league is won in November but I’d argue til I was blue in the face that we have the best squad in the league.

Can you imagine talking to a County fan about any sport other than football?

"I think Lewis Hamilton is the greatest F1 driver ever as he's 7 times world champion"

"Yeah but if Rodrigues had the same car as him, he'd be faster".

I just really want to win this league. Fuck the playoffs. I could see County beating us again if it came to it (really rate Burchnall as a manager, think he's got a big future). I think Stockport could end up going on a huge charge and be a massive weapon in the playoffs. Wrexham will undoubtedly spend more money in January and poach more L1 captains. It's going to be hideous, we just need to keep things going, the playoffs are going to an absolute bloodbath
