anyway, should have won the game in first half. second half we were toothless. Expect some new signings in Jan. Heard a Chesterfield striker isnt happy and is having oil money thrown at him ....

First game we haven't scored in this season, Wealdstone didn't look like scoring but apart from the wonder save from Hayden's header and a heroic piece of defending to get at Mullin when he looked through, it was hardly backs to the wall.

Our midfield was wild again, nobody puts a foot on the ball and it is all reactive. Stones had two players who were playing between our lines and had all the time in the world to control large parts of the game....This is the area we will address in January, expect a lot of money to be thrown at a controlling midfielder (and another striker) and hope that it rights a lot of what is wrong with the team....Hopefully we aren't too far away by then.

Chesterfield are proving themselves at the moment now they have had some tougher fixtures and will take some catching for anyone...It will depend for them how they react when they hit a rough patch that every team has, and if they can keep there Striker in January.

Why 1986 ? I still think of clubs such as Chester, Bradford PA ,Southport & Workington as traditional league clubs. They were all teams we played in the Third Division.
1986 was the year the lower league sides, like all the above and ourselves, were betrayed by the bigger clubs and automatic relegation was imposed on us. Burnley gave away the mindset of those who voted for it, the first season it came in, when they found themselves fighting for their lives in the final game- they threatened to SUE the FA, because "when the resolution was passed it was never supposed to apply clubs like US!!!!" (they actually SAID that!) I dare say even clubs like Notts County and Luton felt the same even if they didn't vote for it. Southport, BPA and Workington were voted out by their peers under previous system. NOBODY bought their way into the league in those days. The league WAS a club, it was owned and regulated by the members. The members could propose and pass any rules they liked, it was THEIR club. When the system was changed, NOBODY anticipated the rise of the bankrolled hobby club, in which Mickey Mouse operations like Forest Green, Harrogate, Fleetwood, Salford etc, propelled by unlimited amounts of cash, would reside in the hallowed Football League while GREAT and HISTORIC names, woven into the popular culture across the decades languished in ignominy and shame outside of it.

That’s because you’re an old fossil. Not really very clear why Bradford PA (the current club is not the same as the one that was in the league anyway) and Workington can be considered traditional league clubs. Bradford were relegated from it over 50 years ago and Workington spent less than 30 years in the Football League.
He chose 1986 as that’s when re-election ended.
He's right, they ARE still thought of as Football League clubs, and those of us who think that will NEVER think of Barnet, or any of the others who came in after 1986, in that way. :ds:

Thanks for the clarity . With regards to Bradford why arn't they the same club ? Still bear the PA name unlike Halifax Town . With regards to Workington as you say only 30 years -- But I bet thats longer than quite a few current Football League clubs. An old fossil you say -- But at least I was around when England won the world cup. The first British team won the European cup. PELE ( the greatest of all time ) was in his prime. I was lucky to have watched him live plus Maradona , Cruyf, Best, Law etc. So i might be an old fossil but I have many great memories.
We ARE Halifax Town, we just moved the FC from the back to the front.
fc HALIFAX TOWN- get it? :ffs:

Its a shame you think that because I agree with everything else you've put in there.

And manager. Any rookie doing well down here is going to get tracked by League clubs.

:ffs: Is this you Mr D-minus? Yeah, brilliant idea, you do that, you'll all still be queuing to get in half way through the second half, while we'll have been sat in our seats since half past 7! Tit! :fl:

The joke's on them when they realise they're in Yorkshire and they've just given Halifax the perfect opportunity to offload all their 1, 2 and 5p coins.

Now that is one hell of a first touch to bring a ball coming over the shoulder, past the defender and run on goal.

deserved a goal tbh

To be fair I agree with you -- I probably did'nt write it down in a clear way. Have always considered you as the same club. I just used the scenario as your name was slightly changed where as Bradfords was'nt.

Me an all, because if Rowe goes he'll almost certainly come back for a few players, Tshimanga first up

For sure. We saw the flip side of it when he pillaged Gloucester so wouldn't be suprised. Good thing is we have our main assets and decent contracts so we cant have them pinched for nothing like we did to them.

Yes that's true,

If he does stay with them and gets them promoted, and we stay down I would imagine he would be near the top of our list for next season. (We won't be thinking about replacing PP before then).

Might sound a bit far fetched right now but stranger things have happened.

I don't think that would happen. The documentary makers won't want to show their own manager kicking the fuck out of youth players on national TV.

He is an evil, evil man.

I hear he's imprisoned Danny Rowe in his private dungeon because he won't change his surname.

"There is only one Rowe here, Lad.'
