Aaaand we’ve conceded to Eastleigh’s first attempt of the night. Which is of course a header off the second phase of a set piece.
This isn't a game we should be losing, collectively 5% short, defending, creating, finishing.
We're a absolutely bang average and mix table is where we belong. Heading for 6 defeats in 9.

Back in front through Carline 2-1!

What a delivery from Taylor, been our best player all evening and was very good against Wrexham also! Can we hold on this time please!

He should have been sent off against us for his studs up over the top tackle on Hall Johnson ;)

Will be a big win for you boys.

Is Grant Smith still with you?
Yeah been excellent since signing, but been a bit shaky tonight in fairness and literally gave Bromley their goal

Been particularly impressed with his dominance of the box despite his height. Normally very good with his feet also (not tonight haha!)

FT: 1-2 away win down at Bromley

Back into the play offs for now with that. The games don’t get any easier with Hartlepool (A) and Torquay (H) to come next... 4 points out of that and I’d be ecstatic!!

Any chance Stockport can rest. Rooney. Madden. Cardwell on Saturday. If we get a point I'll be chuffed. We usually up our game against the big boys though. Point would be good. We have earnt a breathing space after tonight.

Huge result for us. Wasn't pretty but really doesn't matter at this stage of the season. If only we'd had Hyde fit all season, what a signing he's turned out to be

Hope not.

I am afraid you will, unless you can overcome Gary Johnson Time in the playoffs. There should be an investigation into the amount of late goals the Gulls have scored this season.

As for us, Burchnall must wish he could kill Kyle Wootton, and our centre halves. We aren’t even playing that badly, bar Eastleigh at home, but the aforementioned are killing us in terms of missing chances and conceding soft goals

Nah afraid not any rotation will be done against Wealdstone on Monday I should imagine though we’ve got Bennett back and Reid’s been on the bench so even if we did rest the three you mention I’d still be confident.

That was kind of the point of my ‘confusing season’ thing above. All of us had been saying for weeks, months even, that our form was completely unsustainable and we were stinking the place out game after game while managing to win. Scoring wonder goals to win games while creating very little and seeing the opposition fluff chances at the other end. It had to turn.

Somehow it’s managed to turn at the exact moment we decided to change manager. We’re by no means great under Burchnall, I’m not sure we have the players to be tbh, but I think we’re playing a lot better than we have been since the Covid farce against Maidenhead tbh. Yet we suddenly keep missing absolute sitters and every shot the opposition has seems to go in.

Ultimately we’re going to end up about where our performances deserve, just having got there in a bizarre way.

The play off places are going to be changing every week by the looks of the fixtures in the next week or so. Some massive games coming up.

The investigation will show that if you keep trying to attack until the end you will score late goals. Simples.

All in the mind, once you've done it a couple of times the belief is there that you will always get one more chance. Plus it's in the heads of the opposition that you keep doing it so they start dropping off deeper and deeper and nerves start to creep in.

Can't fathom while Shots were time wasting and playing for a point towards the end as surely they need wins if they have any chance of catching the play off contenders.

Agreed, was embarrassing to watch at times. Searle said in his pre-match interview that we were going to come and “have a go”, there’s literally nothing to lose and a win would have just about kept us in the play off frame, while a point wouldn’t have. In the end we ended up with nothing and it’s officially season over for us.

Looking like a battle from 5th to 10th now for the play offs. Still its nice to be in the race. Looking at that table. Feels like us, Eastleigh and Bromley have gatecrashed the brotherhood haha

Good teams score late and get over the line. Poor teams blow it late, that's what makes them poor to a fair degree.

It was tongue in cheek, Jerry. Fair play to you. I wish we should show that fight.

At least on Saturday we have a decent chance to get back among it with a game at Alty, who seem to have downed tools, while the sides immediately above us have tough games. Fail to win that and the knives really will be out! We’ve shown we can’t defend so we might as well go for it, play Enzio and Rodrigues, I don’t care how bothered they look in training or not, our only hope now relies on trying to outscore the opposition.
