Looks like we were lucky to get Stockport during the dying days of the Steve Rusks regime. Fully expect them to run away with it now, especially when ourselves and Chesterfield get filleted in the January window.

I always thought after the craziest summer in NL history that a top 3 finish, either auto or one home PO game from Wembley, would be a good achievement and I stand by that.

I mean, we’ve still played 7 out of the other 11 teams in the top half and are unbeaten against all of them

Did us the world of good not having a game this weekend in my opinion, and we should have at the very least Calvin Miller, Fraser Kerr and Danny Rowe back available for the Salford game next Sunday. Hopeful that Jack Clarke may even be able to get himself back on the bench for that one too, he’s been out for over 3 months now with a hamstring injury so surely can’t be too far off.. on the flipside I’d be giving Oyeleke the weekend off also as he’s had a niggling calf issue, so save him for Grimsby the week after as he’s absolutely pivotal.

We could also have Asante back in the fold before the new year, think JR is looking at the FA trophy game on the 18th December as possibly being the one for his return, most likely off the bench?

So potential for FIVE first teamers returning before XMAS just in time for our most difficult run of fixtures this season, exactly what we needed that.
Edit: Just realised Gavin Gunning and Laurence Maguire are also due back just before the New Year, so that would be 7 big players back for us!

It's going to go down to Wrexham, Notts County, Stockport and Chesterfield fighting off the evil that is Boreham Wood.

Our next 5 are:

Yeovil (H)
Dover (A)
Weymouth (H)
Solihull (H)
Altrincham (A)

we should be going gangbusters. We need to to put ourselves in a competitive position.
11 points out of 15 there should see us in the top 5. All very winnable though and 15 points would see us in an incredible position ahead of the window.

We have beleaguered Daggers up next, followed by Chesterfield and plucky Halifax on Boxing Day. 5 points from that would be excellent but I’m expecting 1, if not nothing.

Added to this, we’ve got to reschedule the Bwood game in so I imagine that’ll be either before or after the Chesterfield game. What a run of fixtures that is.
The Brotherhood big spenders are stacking menacingly behind us...with Chesterfield dug in above us. I fear a squeeze coming. With our sicknotes "not match fit" our squad (not just Ryan Sears)) looks like it could get blown away like three sheets to a north sea gale with a couple of injuries to key players - 5 under 20 loanees now. We need to add some muscle on permanent signings in Jan. A midfield enforcer, striker and wide player.

They are just doing what we were doing and beating teams they should be. It's funny how they are now champions elect whilst we just had a kind run of fixtures.

It's November, plenty of twist and turns yet!
It's Chesterfields to lose
Grimsby to go back up at first attempt
This year is Wrexham's year (sound familiar?)
Notts County will go up now they've found form
Stockport will piss the league now with Challinor

Yeovil 4 wins out of 6 and approaching (Wrexham aside) a very winnable run of games.

Best hope the FL make an 11th hour change to rules to allow 6 up and three down.

Meanwhile we'll happily sit three points off the leaders.

It looks like we may lose Tom Knowles for the next 3 games because of the FA concussion protocol. He went off just before the end of yesterday's game after a Dover player judo threw him onto the turf behind our goal before a corner.

Player's health has to come first. We lost our best goalkeeper for a few weeks earlier in the season with the same protocol. Hopefully he will make a full recovery.
Will that mean Quigley and Yussef up front Tuesday?

If you are there at the end of the season it will be very impressive
At this stage we are just as likely as Boreham wood or anyone else for that matter.

We have enough squad members to be able to have 3 and soon to be 4 players out on loan.

Guess time will tell.

I'm not saying you can't, by the way. It's a matter of resources. If you lose your best players have you got the ability to replace them or to plug the gap? Boreham Wood probably have.

I wouldn't be surprised if you make the play offs because I think your first XI is decent and Wild is a good manager. But if you are challenging for the title in May it will be a great achievement by Wild.

We've had Summerfield, Benn, Allen, Stenton, Bradbury all out recently and simultaneously, and barely missed any of them. 3 of them are still out. :ds:

At the minute no. However we have a crucial factor that could still aid us for the season which is cup money. Not sure how much we have already made getting to the 2nd round of Fa Cup but win next weekend and hit the jackpot away at a prem club suddenly the resources are there to have a real go at it this season.

Wild has earnt the backing now. I'm sure the chairman would put some of the money in to fund a couple of new signings. As well as make Newby's loan permanent. I'm not sure he's much use to Stockport now

Quigley is out until Christmas so it'll have to be Yussuf as we have no other strikers, unless Reuben Reid is available a little earlier than expected.

You always fall away a bit don't you? Go and prove me wrong.
I have absolutely nothing to do with any efforts to stay where we are. In general we have tailed off abit but not a huge amount. There seems a consensus this season that we have the tools to stick with it abit more..

However it urk's me abit that we are talking about Boreham Wood upsetting the brotherhood a club that we are only 2 points behind

Re. Knowles yes we have to make sure he's ok before allowing him to return. It's frustrating though as it wasn't an accident, it was caused 100% by an opponent assaulting him.

Thats true. Although isnt your chairman famously miserly?

No need to get upset by people not expecting Halifax to be challenging- you usually fall away. If you don't this season then fair play- you've had a great start.

Oh I'm not upset about it. It's reasonable to think we might fall away we have before. Something feels different this season. Time will tell though.

He is known for being a tight un yes. Wild won't shurk what he needs though. If he goes to the Chairman and says he needs something and the chairman turns him down that's the time he might look to move on through lack of ambition.

Pete Wild will be informing his players that people on one football forum are writing them off ahead of their next few games.

He reads football forums that's common knowledge on ours. If we ever have a bad result he mentions what people were critical of in his interviews

I’m happy to be written off by the bigger teams. Makes it all the more satisfying when we beat them and get called ‘nothing special’

We can stay under the radar and ruffle a few feathers in the process for all I care. I do agree with comments about our squad depth though. A couple of long term injuries to the likes of Waters and Slew and we are significantly weaker.

Thought the chairman was "AS CORRUPT AS THEY COME"? You said that!

Ok guys, just a heads up here, this lad is THICK. He knows NOTHING about our club.

Well put ODL.

If we can get through the next 4 games with a minimum of 6 points we will be in good shape.

This season is crazy tight. We’re 3 points off top yet also 3 points off mid table mediocrity.

Given the quality of the sides around I’d be thrilled with a play off spot. No doubt our fans will scream murder if we’re not in a title race come season end

Itll no doubt end in the same way as with Neil Aspin, several seasons of punching above your weight and then sack him after a dodgy spell, which at the time many of your fans will have been calling for. Football fans are nuts.
