Our recruitment was brilliant last year and terrible this.
I thought we'd got over that problem after having two seasons where we signed over 50!! players in a season.
Only Ellis looks to be a genuinely worthwhile loan this season. That's one in nine I think.
Golden, Richardson, Miller, Walker, Effiong, Knowles, Wolfe, Griffiths. I'd sacrifice all of those for a proper midfielder who costs £1500 -£2000 a week. It's money saved in the long run.
Knowles has potential but he's no replacement for Dennis or Thomas.

Pretty much agreed. I think Rodrigues and Sam have done okay considering the circumstances of moving to a new country during a pandemic, Reeves has been nowhere near the player his reputation suggests he should be, Ellis has been alright and otherwise no one we've signed this season has really contributed anything.

I would like to see us recruit more from other clubs in this league and continue looking in the North and South. We're carrying too many players in their late 20s and 30s who've played hundreds of EFL games and are on their way down.

On another note, kings Lynn charging £12 for the most appalling stream I’ve seen all season is an absolute joke really

Watched half the game without commentary as they were having ‘technical difficulties’, and then when the commentary did actually work we had to endure that freak Cleeve!:ffs:

At least clubs like Eastleigh appreciate the limitations of their stream and charge less than average prices, but kings Lynn taking the piss with that today

Always worth asking for a refund if the service is shite. Lots of our fans got their money back from Yeovil and Dagenham due to the appalling streams they supplied. If you don't ask you don't get.

To be honest that was the worst performance from our stream all season, not sure what the technical issues were and much as I joked about the volume of Chesterfield fans crashing the system it ought to be able to cope with 1000. Not sure you will have too much joy asking for a refund, we are running on fumes through to the end of the season and every week there are bits in the press about how tight things are.

Chesterfield good for the win as our limited squad shown up in the second half. Good luck with Mitchell, primarily used as a lone striker for us so expect him to benefit from having teammates somewhere near him for the remainder of the season but a big loss for us going forward (not that it matters for 20/21)

Why on earth would you pay any player £2000 per week in non league football??

Haha! You know how much Adam Rooney was being paid at at Salford City when they were in this league?
Hobby clubs like them offer huge wages for players which starts off an inflationary spiral in this league, especially as it is so difficult to get promoted out of here.

To get us into the league. We're already paying around that for at least one player in the squad, probably more.
Joiners and bricklayers are earning up to £1000 in Nottingham each week, the year we went down we had at least four players on £1,500 + .
We signed a lad from Liverpool on loan in L2, Adam Virtue, who's now at Blackpool, the press release showed his contract by mistake as he signed it and he was on £1,100 a week with £300 appearance bonus on top. This is for a player who had never made a first team start anywhere.

At the other end I've a Leicester supporting friend who assures me that there isn't a single Leicester City first team squad player on less than £40,000 a week.

..and how's that going for you?
I think what he’s saying is that he would happily have a player earn that sort of money to improve their squad instead of any of those other names he mentioned, but they haven’t managed to sign a player like that yet.

History shows that the majority of clubs, at this level, who spend that sort of money fail to get the return they are looking for. There are always exceptions but in the main it's lazy management. Sutton proving you don't need to spend that sort of money to challenge for the title.

The one player in the squad definitely earning that sort of money signed a three year deal at the start of the season we were relegated, so there’s not a huge amount we can do there. I also suspect we’re paying very good money to some of the players we signed on two-year deals at the start of last season because we had about six senior players two days before the opening game and were desperate. This summer is likely to see a bit of a step change in the way we recruit players, I imagine, for better or worse. My hope is that we stop tempting down players from League One and Two, and focus more on picking off some of the better players from smaller clubs in this division.

I agree with you to an extent, anyway, but it’s also true that we average 5,000+ (in a normal season) and have the sponsorship and corporate income of a league club. Players and agents aren’t stupid, we’re always going to be one of the highest payers in this league because we can afford it.

What I said is true, as Jacob says, that player was signed while we were in the league.
How's it going you ask, not great atm.
History shows that the bigger spenders tend to get promoted and win things.
From Manchester City to Salford, money talks. You can waste it but it's very hard to make progress without it.
Look at the club's that have been got promoted from this division over the last few years and they've pretty much all thrown a fair amount of money at it.
