I have now altered the poll to allow people to change their vote now we know the final line up, so anybody who voted Braintree or Dover can now pick one of the finalists if they wish.

It's like the second preferences on the PCC ballot :D
Well done Grimsby, see you next Sunday.

Feck that was a stressful afternoon. Sums up this league, you win by doing fewer stupid things than the opposition. Braintree did three in the tie and we did one at Blundell Park. Before the pen we were dominant but still playing dumb football - not getting enough width, too much going diagonal to the far post which is meat and drink for defenders of reasonable competence.

Disley's emotion at the end was great to see...it means that much to him, I'd have him do the team talk next week.

Lol yeah, i didn't want to start a new thread with new poll when this one is 25 pages in already and it would not let me take out Braintree and Dover so just had to open up the change votes option.

Taken from Braintree's forum, looks like our fans have been a bit naughty again.

And the fact there's only about 20 mins to get tickets and everything sorted in time before kickoff.

The atmosphere between the home and away fans after the game was very pleasant. Harsh on our fans who behaved almost impeccably apart from the bottle thing which is true. About 3 of them who were told to fuck off by the majority.

Just seen the score, pleased Grimsby have made it as I want to play Braintree next season with it being local. It's a shame they didn't a day out at Wembley though.

The ones who threw the bottles should be banned for life/ a long time and arrested rather that told to f off surely? Doesnt your PCSO come with the fans? Seems madness to have a few clowns that travel, the vast majority are great but it truly is so sad that we hear of a few idiots doing this,. Especially when tickets were so hard to come by. In the league wouldnt Town be heavily fined for pitch invasions during the match as well as bottles thrown.
Report of a twat at FGR last night throwing a bottle. CCTV isnt on in some places at TNL, time it was, sadly

yes, to the new one, been twice to the old one we were winners in the FA vase in the 80s, and the Trophy in the 90s, would have been a third time in early 2000 but was Villa Park then as the venue !

Nah, standard Tin Potter form to play the "non league fans" card when they get beat. Every crowd of any size has a few dickheads in it. Not going to kick off when only 82 of you bother to turn up to the biggest game in your history though are you.

They were empty plastic bottles, I'm not sure arresting them would've been proportionate do you?

Bit of a contrast between the Braintree tweet of "objects being thrown at our keeper" and empty bottles as you say. Now how far does an empty plastic bottle travel?

Anything thrown in my view could be dangerous, its a slippery slope. So those "fans" will be back next season throwing stuff at the next keeper, having got away with it the once. Surely players need protection from this? Next Cheltenham will be arguing it was only plastic studs that Wright was wearing so thats OK? Come on, if it was Macca getting pelted with empty bottles expect you wouldnt be so tolerant. Its wrong mate. One 3 or ten, ones too many. You wouldnt expect it in a pub, on a beach so whys it fine at a match?

No, it was ok because he made a jokey 'stampiones' tweet about it, which in Cheltenham's fans eyes suddenly meant it was funny instead of violent.......

The only funny thing about the Wright incident is the Grimsby fans' reaction to it. 'Suspend him for a year!' 'He tried to MURDER our goalkeeper!' 'Burn him at the stake!'*

Just thinking about the potential dilemma caused by yesterday's result...

We lose at Wembley on penalties after putting in a good performance - should / will PH be sacked then? Would it appear harsh? So if we don't win can we lose 4-0 please.

If Hurst stays the coaching budget needs to be boosted. We need someone who can work with the likes of Bogle, Arnold, Nolan (assuming Amond leaves) to help us open up teams that park the bus. It is home results v those kind of opponents that has caused us problems. That and the silly errors early in the season which meant we started slowly.

Not far off them though. As has been said many times, no-one tried to defend what he did, it's the reaction that was hilarious.

Didn't the club release a statement defending him...?

If we don't go up Hurst has to go no matter what. He has created a mentality that finishing 5th and simply securing a play off spot is good enough, and while he does it consistently giving us a chance of promotion every year, we just never seem to be able to take that big step further. Until this year that is :woo:

I get the feeling he's going to Notts County no matter what though. Which is a shame as I would actually really like him to stay with us in League 2.

From what I can remember, the reaction seemed to be quite proportional? Most of us were firstly unhappy that the stamp had gone unpunished during the game, and that Wright was allowed to stay on the pitch and influence the result. Given that the ref didn't do anything about it during the game, people correctly wanted to see Wright hit with a retrospective ban and were understandably unhappy about his unprofessional gloating on social media over the incident (and Cheltenham's laughable statement claiming it was all an accident and the 3 match suspension was unfair).

Not like anyone at Cheltenham will care about this whole affair anyway given that you lot pissed the league!

To be fair I think the biggest reaction was down to his tweets which were very twatish of him. I've always respected him as a player but he is genuinely a stupid prick.
