Cheers. It's been pretty difficult jumping from a Halifax Town team who were on the cusp of survival after that 1-0 win at the New Lawn, to an excellent but despondent FGR team on the cusp of promotion, only to watch my new side fail on the final hurdle.

These things do put you off to be honest, and that's why from this point forward I am revoking my support for Forest Green, and going back to watching the Shaymen. Having not paid attention to them since 23rd of April I'd be interested to see whether we beat Macclesfield and survived the other week. Does anybody know what happened that day?

Surprised none of the FGR lot have piped up yet, given how none of them appeared to have gone to 'Wemmers'.

I have no particular fondness for Grimsby, and am total ambivalent towards FGR, but agree with that.

Now let's see how Grimsby get on the FL, I suspect they will be back sooner rather than later.

Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do a Bristol Rovers and go up again

Congratulations Grimsby.

Best team won, we just didn't turn up.

Please give it a rest regarding FGR. Have some respect for us on here who love the club. It's becoming a poor forum.

All the best to Grimsby next year, I'm sure you'll push for the top 7 of league two. Who knows what the future holds for us.

Absolutely zero sympathy for team TopLadz.

Congratulations Grimsby, richly deserved.

Weird feeling for me, I always thought I would be there every time we get promoted in my life. I'm obviously over the moon, but not being there kind of sucks especially when your stream cuts out as soon as Bogle scores his first and it comes back 3 minutes later and you're 2-0 up.

Commiserations to FGR.

Pretty sure Hurst was cupping his ear in the direction of ChrisFGR and not the travelling Mariners, though.

I'd like to think Hurst hasn't done that, it'd be nice to see him keep some humility and accept that everybody wanted the same thing and mistakes were made along the way.

That said, I don't really care, we're off to the football league!!

Congratulations to the long suffering Grimsby fans, you deserve it. Think you'll go straight up again next season too.

Fantastic day for Grimsby and their fans, about time they made it back into the league after coming close so many times. The game itself was actually really enjoyable and a good advert for the National League, Forest Green gave it a good go second half but just left themselves too much to do, I'm sure they'll finish in the top 5 next season as long as Vince keeps investing.

I know it's been done to death in this thread but the following from Forest Green was piss poor for the biggest game in their history. How far does Dale Vince honestly think this club can grow?

Why? You lot have only shown contempt for fans of the clubs who go about things the right way and their well founded objections to clubs like yours.. :fing:

I agree the standard of this forum has deteriorated somewhat over the last couple of weeks and months, but it's certainly not coming from our end!

Okay no problem just keep going on. I follow my club home and away, have done before the money, and will do after the money.

Just chill out a bit, it's not fun to come on here to fuming messages about how we don't deserve to be up there ect.

I've wished Grimsby well, I've wished Cheltenham now, what more can I do?

Fantastic to see Grimsby up. Honestly really happy for them, proper FL club that have done their time in the non league. If Davis goes early enough i'll probably head to Grimsby away as it isn't too far from where I live.

Couldn't have FGR up in the FL, they would have pissed league 2 as well with their money and itll be dull as fuck. Id hate to support a club whose success is purely based on money and the only reason the good players are at my club is just because of the money, whilst knowing at any point the chairman could get bored and fuck off and put my club in liquidation. Id hate it.

It's just #bantz mate. Take it as a compliment it to your club. People are bothered enough about them to slag them off.

In all seriousness any fan should be applauded for following their local team, whatever circumstances they find themselves in.

As for today, having been in your shoes I know how gutting it is. No doubt you'll be back next year in even better shape and the players who remain will be better for the experience.

I was thinking earlier about teams who have lost a play off Final. Quite regularly they seem to find themselves going up soon after. We are the obvious exceptions!
