There are a lot of tiny clubs creeping up into the football league recently, making League 2 that bit more tinpottery. This is another.

At least they aren’t allowed to keep their pitch.

Well Done Harrogate, it is indeed a very nice town and a good away trip.

Not sure how much extra work will need to be done on their ground though apart from their pitch - Think it only holds around 4k? I saw they've built in some new seated stands at least though.

Hopefully they've now learnt how to segregate crowds - won't forget when we first went there and took around 700 of our fans and they didn't segregate the two sets of supporters, which led to bits of bother in certain places in the ground.

Pleased with that, there should be a rule that any club relegated to the Conference should spend a minimum of three seasons there. Otherwise they haven't really experienced it.

Still, how Northern is the league looking next season? Lots of miles racking up for us.

Welcome Harrogate.

I do have to agree with Denzel, this is definitely a northern 't' league next season.

Another vanity project club, though it will be a relatively local game for me if away fans are allowed in by the time we play.

Disgusting result that should immediately be expunged from history.

(But I like the Harrogate fan, so pleased for him).

What’s Harrogate deal then, are they bankrolled? I know absolutely nothing about them except the plastic pitch

Do we class all investment as bankrolled? 18 players not 30, 2/3rds of the team sheet played in the NLN final 2 years ago and most have never played league football so it's certainly not a Salford bankroll. Won't be even half the player budget of Notts.
That bitter town fan will be spitting feathers, trying to hollow out this success. He preferred it when the team had no future.

I didn't know there were 2 Harrogate fans on here? and you seam sensible unlike the other one.
Yes not in Salford's league as far as bankrolling goes - but John Stead was on big money.... but worth it with promotion now achieved

He's been managing them for how long? 14,15 years. Being the owner's son might have helped him get the job but from where they were when he took over to where they are now has to mean he's done a good job.

Think it was his 11th year. 9 with his dad as owner. It's his first job though so he's spent a few years learning how to manage. He had a couple of poor seasons where he would have likely been sacked in a normal role. But here we are so it's worked. Buzzing!!

The 2 best sides have been promoted then. Regarding the pitch it will take 10 weeks to get it up to date so they have something in place where they will be ground sharing. I don't know who there ground sharing with.

Harrogate have done a good job and play good stuff, and they were the side I was worried about catching us. I'm pleased the top two went up in the end.

He was the manager before his dad came onto the scene

I've heard they are playing at Doncaster for the first few games. Nothing confirmed though.

Edited and deleted post after Dolf did so well earlier, in proving the point about Town.

Wonder if any town fans remember Rushden and Diamonds......

Bandwagons rolling now, two of us here now....

One of which represents 95% of fans in awe of extreme nepotism, the club being a sub co of a house building company, being used as a vehicle for tax avoidance, 500k a year losses, numerous examples of belligerence and arrogance towards fans, former club employees and volunteers that would shock most.....and in a non footballing town like Harrogate, being on the bandwagon, ignorance is bliss.

Ask no questions because most of them weren't there pre the cash being chucked around as a stimulus to make up for someone who would not be near a club as manager.

Was happy yesterday for a few lads I used to go on northern league away days, a few of the players like Emmet and Burrell.

But totally hollow when I saw the owner scampering straight onto the pitch at the final whistle and remembered that this is weaver fc.

The club will owe a house builder over £5m+ in accumulated debt when they decide to move on, of which the plethora of temporary stands you'll all not enjoy when visiting the ground, is a stark hint at what is to come......there will be exactly ZERO buyers lined up to take that on when the Weavers leave.

But hey the town story makes for great superficial storylines. However, the contrast to what a club like Accrington Stanley have done is stark, sadly it takes more than just rocking up to harrogate town for the last few years on the bandwagon to understand the difference in how a club can be run like and the contrast to the inevitable price to be paid with the club's long term future for getting the Weavers their debt fuelled fame.

Now this guy makes the other HG from Carlisle seam like the world's most optimistic person....

In fact why did I bother posting, you've said it all with that absolute belter that is garnished with a dollop of irony given how unsustainable the club is.

I could point to paying Jon stead earning over a hundred k a year, or the huge losses lodged every financial year end at companies house as we splurge the cash on agent fees and and big four figure weekly salaries on ex league players who hardly play. Or the furloughing of most of the non playing staff at the same time the club were signing the guiseley forward for a decent transfer wedge. But all of that is above your head when when you are capable of a pearler like your last sentence. Enjoy the bandwagon and when it ends you can go back to supporting your premier league club.
