Anyone see the piece about the Margate guy putting £2.5m in to date?

Without knowing too much about what division they've come from, that seems a ridiculous amount.

Yep, and I can't imagine any of it has actually gone into anything worthwhile, i.e the ground!

Well they were spunking 20-25 grand a week on wages in the Ryman Premier & they couldnt even win the league

The bloke is rather deluded to say the least, he thinks they can be the next Southampton or Brighton

Whenever i want a good laugh i read this article.....it never gets old http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/potential-Southampton/story-21104311-detail/story.html

That article is brilliant. How delusional can you be?! Good grief.

At least we've made improvements, and will continue to do so, to our ground as well as getting in a host of sponsors who are providing a decent income.

Nick Bailey has signed for Sutton today, nearly 12 years after leaving for Barnet

Good luck to him. He had a short spell with us just before Christmas but for whatever reason it didn't quite work out.

He was excellent for us in his first spell with us, excellent at Southend and Charlton too. However, his time at Middlesbrough and Milwall was not so successful.

The same one who played for Charlton? Really rated him there!

The same guy. Started his career at Sutton back in 2002, been a frequent visitor to GGL since leaving in 2004. Has been training with us since the new year, and played in a practice match against Palace's academy a fortnight ago

Worth the trip mate? ;)

Not for the first 75 minutes.

Dartford 1-2 Wealdstone (Att: 853)

Smash and grab results - hate them when they happen to you (see last Monday); love them when you pull them off (see tonight).

Honestly, Dartford could have won 3/4-0 and we'd have had no complaints, no pattern of play to our team, all too narrow again and players who are lightweight and not willing to put the full force of their bodies into challenges.

Andy Pugh deservedly put the Darts in front just after HT from a well worked move. They then had further chances to increase the lead, either miscues, off-target shots or good goalkeeping kept the scoreline at 1-0. We equalised on the 76th minute with wiley old fox Scott McGleish at the grand old age of 41 curling in a beautiful shot from the 18 yard box. Jefferson Louis would then rifle home the winner some 5 minutes later, cuing pandemonium from the few of us who were there on the terraces.*

Dartford collapsed after that and we saw the game out rather comfortably. Incredibly we scored from our only 2 shots on target.

Looks like Wealdstone Chairman Howrad Krais is stepping down at the end of the season. http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/headlines/stones-chairman-krais-to-stand-down.html

Aber?

Shame, but it's down to family reasons, nothing else.

All going off on the pitch at the minute, Michael Corcoran convicted this past week of calling someone a n***** in Shoreditch last year and has been suspended by the club (just wish they'd cut their losses already) whilst an internal investigation takes place.

We can also only sign some no-hoper striker from Billericay who hasn't played for them because we don't have a pot to piss in.... cash flow problems.

2-0 win at Chelmsford with Dan Fitchett getting both goals. 1 point behind Maidstone with a game in hand. Oh, and we have to concede a league goal in 2016

He was excellent for us in his first spell with us, excellent at Southend and Charlton too. However, his time at Middlesbrough and Milwall was not so successful.

He was superb for Southend, one of the best players in the lower leagues in 07-08. He handled his exit from Southend terribly though, came across as a right cock. Before he left, the club rejected a couple of bids from Charlton which he wasn't happy about. They came back in the summer after he rejected a contract extension and he was allowed to talk to them. It all broke down at first and he started the season 08-09 with Southend, which is when he threw his toys out of the pram. Refused to train, refused to play, even though it was him/his agent who'd ballsed up the move over the summer. He then came out saying how Charlton were going to be a Premier league team and him a premier league player and Southend had done nothing for him yadda yadda yadda..... anyway he finally got his move (presumably lowered his wage demand) and promptly got relegated with Premier Division bound Charlton. It was pleasing to remind him of what division he was playing in when Southend visited the Valley the next season in league one.
I note he's only 31, surely he'll be quality at Sutton.

I'm sure that Aberstone will be delighted to see that our visit to Wealdstone on Monday is off due to our Surrey Senior Cup commitments

How the heck does a pointless County Cup game take priority over a league game

All FA competitions take priority, national and local. And the quest for 16 isn't pointless.....

Secretary on our forum said League fixtures take precedence over County Cup fixtures for teams in the National League (uhh) and above.

March is going to be busy...

Indeed if our game was a step 1 fixture we'd be playing it. I'd rather be playing Wealdstone on Monday (ideally we'd have played it in December....) but that's the price you pay for having a good season in three competitions. Of course if we draw with Bognor it's all academical.

Oh, and the Surrey FA in their infinite wisdom have scheduled the final for May 4th. The same night as the Conf South play-off semi-final 1st leg

You and me both re: December. Now been re-arranged for Monday 21st March.

Earlier on today we announced the signing of Femi Orenuga from Gloucester City. Tigers fans seem to be rather disappointed that he's left them (due to travelling), meant to be a fast and tricky winger which could spell the end of Shaun Lucien's spell with us.

Wealdstone 4-4 Truro City (Att: 606)

Hands up anyone else who was 4-0 up after an hour and failed to win the game.... just us then?

The wind played havoc on the game with 7 of the 8 goals being scored towards the Gun Turret end. We took a 3-0 lead into Half Time after goals from Matt Ball, Jefferson Louis and Matt Harriott. Elliott Godfrey had gone close for us in the first half whilst Truro could/should have made one of their guilt edged chances at the end of the first half count.

Second half we went 4 up after a quite comical clearance gone wrong from Truro's #5. Their manager instantly made a couple of substitutions and as time went on, we seemed to lose the midfield battle as Truro were finding it easier and easier to pass through us. Their first goal I believe was converted at the near post (couldn't see it at the other end), their 2nd after 82 minutes was a perfect FK, curled wonderfully into the bottom corner.

The 3rd goal was a cross that goalkeeper Joe Taylor should have kept out imo and after they'd missed a 1-on-1 Truro would convert in the 93rd minute sparking a mini pitch invasion from their noisy 30-40 supporters who'd travelled from Cornwall.

Immensely fucked off with how mentally fragile we are but it was a fair result.

Edit: Great game for you Kim Mitten

Certainly was Aberstone, ruddy superb game. As you say wind was a swirling mess, one of those where a freekick was booted 5 yards and just blew straight back at the player who took it.
The finishing for the majority of the goals was superb and as odd as it sounds a point was a fair result, felt Wealdstone stopped playing at 4-0 up though and it cost them.
1st half Wealdstone seemed to do two things, either get it down in and around the Truro box and cause chaos, their defence looked a bit crap, especially when players took them on. Or just boot it, with the wind, straight to the keeper!
Truro looked very good on the ball, played some lovely stuff, the number 10 and 11 especially, some of the link up and 1-2 play throughout the game puts a lot of the league sides I've watched this season to shame. They missed chances though in the first half, Wealdstone were clinical.

2nd half was amazing, haven't seen anything like it in a long time, own goal for 4-0, it looks over, then Wealdstone just seemed to want to play on the break and fell apart defensively, the Wealdstone keeper made two saves of epic proportions, the first was world class. It was after the 2nd Truro goal - superb freekick, that you could just sense, from the players to the supporters that Truro could nick something, how Wealdstone let the 4th go in is anyone's guess though.

The Truro supporters deserve a word, singing throughout, haven't seen a teams supporters sing throughout a game like they did since Sunderland last visited Roots Hall. It also meant that the Wealdstone crowd got into it as well, made for a good atmosphere. Quirky ground as you said Aberstone, reminded me of a mish-mash of lots of other non-league grounds.
That's two Wealdstone games I've seen this season and 14 goals in them, think I'll be coming to a few more!

Oxford away on Saturday. Chance to get revenge for knocking us out of the Trophy. Still unbeaten away from home in the league.
