Yes, I know what you're thinking.

I'm intrigued by this bit:

"Premier League clubs have also included £100mn of ADDITIONAL funding for the National League, Leagues One and Two, women's and grassroots football. "

Is this truly ADDITIONAL money? What are we getting from this deal.
And presumably no mention of the Championship because they have a separate contract with Sky, which L1 and L2 occasionally get games from.

As for the deal itself, I don't have Sky or BT Sports so I'm looking forward to another 4 years of Burnley v Crystal Palace on the BBC.

Just another stick for them to beat us with when they want to push the next thing that will benefit them and screw FL clubs over, yet people will still get excited when their team reaches the last 4 of the B team trophy next season.

ESL has changed absolutely nothing, it's business as usual, the FL will continue to run a business model that is unsustainable and totally dependent on this revenue stream, and all this extra money will do is continue to top up absurd player wages rather than be put into infrastructure that ensures as time goes on we're less reliant on handouts from the corporate entertainment show that is the PL.

The extra £100m from the PL will basically be the saved parachute payments from Norwich and Watford going straight back up (and potentially Bournemouth).

It'll be thinly sliced because it's covering more than just the EFL. It's the NL, Women's game, grassroots, all sorts of areas. It'll not be a big lump sum (and it's split over the duration of the new TV deal).

Surely the parachute payments are a separate part of the deal.
Agree that it will be thinly sliced, I'm just intrigued at the additional payments. That to me means payments on top of what is already being received.

Yes, it's separate to the normal solidarity payments but when a Club gets relegated, it receives parachute payments. If they go up at the first time of asking (maybe even the second year as well), they forfeit their remaining parachute payments and it gets swallowed back up by the PL and distributed between them.

All the PL are doing are effectively using the saved parachute payments rather than gifting their own money. The parachute payment forfeits are a bonus for them outside of their own TV payments.

If what I'm told is correct, it's and extra circa £100k per season for four years per L1 and L2 Club i.e. £20m over four years.

Not sure how the other £80m is split between everyone else.
