Chelsea don’t look capable of breaking down Newcastle. 90% possession but the best chance they’ve had in the 2nd half was a 30 yard shot that hit the bar.
I think that penalty decision is evidence enough that VAR is needed. I initially thought it was a pen and then on the replay realised it probably wasn’t. I Think there the ref, with help from another assistant, would’ve overturned that.
And there, again, a controversial goal that could have been reviewed and probably would have been disallowed.
Observations on the game ,Benitez looked disheveled in his chosen garb whilst Sari and Zola attempt to morph into one diminutive Italian by donning identical caps ,a twinning that even the bubble on a spirit level would fail to separate.
Other observations,David Luis runs with his head back like Berthold in Baron Munchausen if Pedro has the ability to bring others into the play instead of shooting on sight he's keeping it well hidden and when Sari asks Morata to 'find space' does he think he's being asked an astronomy question ? Does an elbow in the face and an equalizer account for a fortuitous penalty or are Chelsea still owed an egregious action ,never mind its an unpredictable OG and 82 % of possession that separates the two teams at the end.
Damn it Newcastle, talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Fair enough Chelsea dominated but when the home team gets a late equaliser they just need DISCIPLINE to close it out. Rafa needs to knock some heads together, despite a very determined display by his team.
Sarri seems to be getting a tune out of the same team that faltered last season. Good luck mate, it only lasts until they go off you!
