Opposition players know they can do what they like against Newcastle and they will avoid severe punishment. Not sure why this has become accepted under FA rules, but it is.

On another note, I think Rafa will keep Newcastle up. There are some oddly high points tallies in and around the relegation zone, I wouldn't be surprised to see a team go down this season with 38-40 points. The bottom half is absurdly congested.
