No match thread for this one... kind of academic now, but it means that Newport have now played a whole ninety minutes extra than everyone else.

What are Newport going to do about this? Seems an impossible situation, you sound pretty brassic so I presume that getting your own place that isn't used for egg-chasing isn't even close to being on the cards. But you must have lost more games just through rain this season than we did through flooding last season.

I'm visiting my Nan in South Wales this weekend, drive down yesterday morning. It rained really heavily all day, I'm not surprised the game was called off to be honest. We don't get rain like that in Cambridge!

To be fair, City's game just across the border down the road at Cinderford was abandoned and apparently Forest Green were getting close.

The Exiles have enough problems with Westley and their ownership. As they say: "It never rains but it pours."

This is the third game off so far (Barnet was also abandoned at half-time, Stevenage was postponed). The main concern for me is that the pitch only seems to be getting worse season-on-season and we are continuing to throw good money after bad on drainage works that appear to have very little benefit. The other issue is that while we have this situation we are never going to be able to progress as a club. Even if we get through the rest of the season without any more postponements (which seems unlikely given we are only in December and the winter has been relatively mild so far) we are looking resigned to the fact that the pitch is effectively broken now until pretty much the end of the season which further resigns us to watching very unattractive football at home and a style which is at odds with some of the very good away performances we have put in recently under Westley. It's just incredibly hard to get any kind of momentum going but we appear stuck with it for the time being. How we could do with beating Plymouth in the cup and a 3rd round at Anfield...

If we'd kicked off an hour later ours would have been called off as well (worst luck). I even heard rumours some bloke called Noah was drawing up plans for an ark.

If stadiums have to be up to the required standards for the football league, then should pitches not have required standards also?

Because no way in hell should they be allowed in the football league with a pitch like that!

And you'd be six points a season better off ...

Exactly!

Well we do play on a world cup class pitch so our style of football is of the highest, so playing on your Glastonbury pitch was always going to be tough. Yet I'm sure if we played you on ours right now we'd hammer you 8-0 at least.

Judging by the way we played against Stevenage last week on our swamp you have a point!
