The last time we played newporf on the opening game of the season we won the league..haha

Our defending was shocking at times. I don't think we'll struggle as much as people think we will once that is sorted. Can't fault the winner though.

How did Randall do and how come Byrne wasn't playing?

Randall will be fine with some matches under his belt. He lost possession, misdirected a few passes and could have been sent off after a mis-timed two-footed challenge, but there's a decent player in there and as he gets to know his teammates he'll improve.

Like Baz said,we'll do better this season. Our midfield seems to have a bit more about them, instead of being a one-man show (Byrne) and our set pieces are 100% better. We need to sort the defence out, particularly the full backs, and we need some better options up front so Feaney has some work to do getting some loans in pronto. Ladabie looked good as did Compton.

Mansfield look decent. They started the game by putting a lot of pressure on our players and didn't let us settle throughout and took their chances well. The third goal was a beauty, but our keeper should have done better. Rose looked good and Green will always score if left on his own in the box as he was yesterday.

It's good to (finally) hear positive stuff on stags play from an opposition fan.

It looks like we are going to mix it up a lot more this season between playing direct balls or (trying to) pass it around. And Kevin Hurst appears to be our key man.

I don't class myself as a Midlander and I'm from Wudhus. When you work somewhere like Leicester you realise that you aren't accepted in the Midlands; when you work in Sheffield you realise that you aren't accepted in the North either. I'm a 'North-midlander' by association that neither region considers you part of them, so you have to create your own.
