It's a joke if thats considered a stonewaller Logan took the ball cleanly if that is a penalty every sliding tackle is a foul.

Stone Waller, can’t see how Logan can argue that totally cleaned him out.

Good game and finely poised, draw probably fair although Logan made 2 or 3 outstanding saves.

He doesn’t need to come for it, just like the one against Lincoln. Sloppy mistake and quite annoying because he’s had a great game before that.

That’s what Logan does though.

There’s always a costly moment of madness.

As I said, the debate about the penalty wouldn’t have happened had he not dithered

He got to the ball and touched it away before he took down the Newport player.

In my view, that's no different to a slide tackle and the player going over a leg that's trailed behind. I just don't see how that is a penalty when he's not going anywhere and the keeper gets to it first anyway.

I am happy to hear why you think that's a penalty but that's not one for me

Newport player got there first. Silly decision by keeper, he wasnt doing anything but following the ball out out of play at that pace

Logan pisses me off but he took ball first, difficult for the referee to see though.

First half we deserved a penalty and they deserved a red card within the first 10 - feel a bit robbed, you can clearly see our superior ability but the ‘choke’ is possible at home.

That's pretty much how I see it. Looking at the replay I can see why Mansfield are upset but why give the referee a decision to make. The red card one was a shocker not to give that it must be said.

Overall though Mansfield should be pretty confident of going through now. First time have seen Newport this season, they are rather agricultural in their style, nothing wrong with that of course as its clearly worked for them but think Mansfields extra quality will show in the 2nd leg.

I can see how he’s given it but he touches the ball first.

The refs had a shocker, Newport should have been down to 10 after 5 minutes with the most blatant of reds but he bottled it.

Would have taken the draw before the game

I've watched the streamable link a bunch now and it's clear the Newport player got a toe end on it. The real issue is the stupid commitment by the fat guy tho

Logan also got to the ball first as he knocked the ball away before he got the man

Looks from reply like Azeez did get to it first but even in that scenario, Azeez has poked it forward and Logan has reacted to that poke and got the ball.

Danny Cowley has spoken. Not a pen.

I'm sorry but, any league in the world, any level, that's going to be given as a penalty. Dumb, dumb, dumb decision by keeper. Unnecessary.

At this point I'm just glad it's not Conference North #SaintSheridan

Quite some run you went on.

The conference looked really weak this season by usual standards, with notts and Stockport in it next season could be quite competitive

That’s never a pen, striker gets a touch, then Logan palms it away, then they collide.

Ref had a shocker, I will take the point though. Newport is a tough place to go and we held up well to all the throw ins.

Ben Turner MOM for me, Walker led the line brilliantly, roll on Sunday!!!!

Good draw and much improved. About as clear a red as you are ever likely to see and an incredibly harsh penalty. Can sky stop showing our games please as everytime they do we have a controversial decision given against us.

A decent L2 game with good chances at both ends. Didn’t think it was a pen as keeper got the ball before Azeez but was a rash challenge - gives the terrible refs in our league a decision to make which they invariably fuck up.
Not sure Walker would have got to the ball before Day so element of doubt for me and yellow was correct decision. Having said that we couldn’t complain if a red card had been given. So on balance we probably got the rub of the green tonight.
Thought Mansfield started strongly, didn’t appear to be any hangover from the MK game. Still fall to the ground too easily and what Benning was doing at the end Christ knows. But we did finish stronger second half. Not pretty but often effective.
Evenly poised for Sunday. Labadie will hopefully start so should add more bite in midfield.
Mansfield favourite to win this tie but will be close I reckon. 1-2.

I'm not sure what some of you are looking at. Even looking at tiny footage on a phone, I can see Azeez getting there first. It's marginal, but he does touch first. Is it a penalty, probably not in hindsight. But watching it live and from the refs view, I can see why he's given it.

Logans at fault for coming out when he didn't need to. Still fancy Mansfield to go through, Newport are pretty pish on the road.

Where do they find these officials? Blatant red card after 6 mins. I'd of taken a draw before and we've got to fancy ourselves at home on Sunday.

Breakspear was a late stand in apparently? Not easy for a ref coming in at short notice. Strange cos he's not usually shy of showing a red.

For these very important games surely the best refs available should be in charge - not the bozos we have to put up with week after week.

Yes Azeez got there first but the keeper took the ball before the man so no penalty for me. I agree the challenge was rash and no need for it as Azeez was going nowhere. Difficult for the ref to see the contact with any clarity so was guessing if you ask me.
Not a red card either as OB didn’t deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity - Day would have got to the ball first.

For me, it matters not whether Azeez touched the ball first as it was followed immediately by a Logan save which was neither reckless, excessive nor careless. The hands touched the ball before any of the body which brought Azeez down afterwards. I can maybe see an argument for careless if he doesn't get the ball or he clatters the man first before taking the ball but for me it's never a penalty.

I’ve got no beef but the 2 decisions should have been a red card in the first half and, on balance, a pen at the end.

Any fan would be screaming for a pen if that was your team.

Well yeah but screaming for a penalty doesn't make it a penalty.
