There is a legend that they tell of a huge monstrous dog that stalks the people of East Anglia. Black Shuck is his name. In the summer of 1577 he attacked in the Suffolk towns of Blythburgh and Bungay. A storm raged off the Suffolk coast and the people of Blythburgh retreated to the church for safety. The largest thunder clap you will ever hear pierced their ears and a flash of lightning broke through the windows of the church and blinded them. The doors of the church flew open and a demonic hound stood over them. He ran forward and savaged a man standing with his young boy and left them both dead. The villagers tried to attack the hound but they struggled with his immense power. Eventually they forced him out of their church and their nightmare was over. For now.
At the same time the town of Bungay had also retreated to their church. They knelt silently in prayer as the great hound stalked up and down the aisles. The hound picked his victims and standing between them he placed his humongous paws on their necks and cleaved their heads straight off their body.
A giant dog or the devil? So many questions remain unanswered from that night. The image of Black Shuck still haunts the nightmares of East Anglian children but the true story has never been told. Black Shuck wasn't a giant dog or the devil. Black Shuck wasn't even one entity. No, a family of werewolves had taken up residence on the Suffolk coast and the summer of 1577 was when they fed. What follows is the true story of that summer in Suffolk.
Rules:
I'll run over the basic rules quickly, but if for any reason you are in any doubt what so ever on anything, feel free to pm or ask me for clarification. In this game, there are going to be between 25 and 30 participants. You each assume a role of a fictional character in a village, an unspecified number of these villagers will be werewolves. The role of werewolf will be completely randomly assigned, and it will be completely hidden from everyone. You will receive a PM at the start of the game that will outline your role and whether you are a villager or a werewolf.
The game works in day and night cycles. During the day, the villagers vote amongst themselves in this thread, by speaking, asking questions or whatever you may have to say, on who they believe to be a wolf, and thus who they will execute. At the end of the day, the person with the most votes is hanged, and it is revealed if they were wolf or human.
The days last for approx. 48 hours in real life. The exception to this is the first day which is only 24 hours. There will be no execution on the first day and the villagers will decide on who will take the role of the mayor. Days will end at 9pm, any votes after this deadline will not count even if I'm not around to count the votes at 9pm. Once a day ends there will be a period of night time. Night time ends when I declare the day to have begun, I will confirm the end of the next day at this point.
During the night, there is to be no talking amongst the villagers in the thread, and the wolves will PM me their choices of who to kill, with 3 names in order. 1st will be worth 3 points, 2nd 2, and 3rd 1, and which ever person has the most points from the wolves combined votes, will be killed. That person is then out of the game completely and is not permitted to talk in this thread until the game is over, regarding any matter at all, you must just observe.
Wolves must also vote during the day, as during the day, they are just normal villagers.
There are some positions above just being a villager or a werewolf:
-There is a mayor position to be voted upon by the villagers, whoever gets the most votes becomes mayor (whether he be wolf or human is another matter entirely....). The mayor gets the deciding vote if the votes are tied for who to execute, if he or she doesn't respond in time, I will randomly choose. If the mayor is executed, or killed by werewolf attack, then a new mayor is elected the next day.
-There is a position of Seer to be allocated to a villager at random, again to be completely unknown to the rest though. This person can PM me once every day, asking the nature of a specific villager - i.e. werewolf or human. I will answer completely honestly, and then it is the seers decision if they want to risk being found out as the Seer (and being werewolf bait almost definitely) to save/condemn a player, or to keep quiet and try and sway the votes through charismatic and logical thinking perhaps.
-There are also individual roles within your character that may enable you to do something extra. Not everyone has these and some are one use only, some can be used a select number of times and others can be used every game day.
Please do not, under any circumstances try to ruin the game in anyway. Taking a screen shot to prove your innocence, or prove something else is forbidden, and ruins the spirit of the game. You can PM each other, but I'll simply have to trust that no one cheats. Do not reveal your aims, or goals or anything.
You can say whatever the hell you want, otherwise! In this thread, it makes the game far, far, far more interesting if you stay in character, and you are actively encouraged to lie at times. There is no penalty other than perhaps a possible execution! If you want to pretend to be the seer, so be it. If you want to say the seer contacted you, and said something, so be it. The game is about deception.
Please, no outsiders to the game to post in this thread.
Put your votes in bold. Any votes not in bold will not be counted regardless of whether I see it or not. You may change your vote as many times as you wish before the deadline. You may vote for no execution.
Winning
If the villagers are reduced to an equal number of werewolves, i.e. 3 villagers, 3 wolves, then the wolves win.
The villagers must eliminate all wolves however, to succeed.
There are points allocated however, for personal gain as well. You may, or may not be assigned a personal goal which you can choose to achieve or not, it only affects your personal tally. Survivors of the winning team will earn +2 points. Every person who correctly voted for a lynch on a wolf will get +1 point, and as I said, there are also personal goals for some people.
