:dis:…That’s one way of saying youve never kicked a ball in your life before Jacob if you can’t appreciate that!

The difficulty of that technique on the half volley with the ball bouncing up at you like that almost directly underneath your body…:eyes: and to then go and put it in the top banana from the corner of the box… so, so good (even better live of course)

It’s a decent goal obviously, but similar to that Wrexham one a couple of weeks ago in that the actual goal did not come close to living up to the billing.

And my experience of playing is that hitting a ball on the half volley like that is much easier than it is straight off the ground. Yeah most will go flying over, but as a bad amateur footballer I would say scoring that goal is at least plausible. The Grimsby free kick, for example, isn’t.

I’d say to execute a half volley like that is definitely harder than hitting a stationary dead ball… all it takes when hitting a moving (bouncing) ball is for the timing to be a split second off and it’s getting ballooned into Tesco’s car park! Everything about the technique has to be perfect for that to fly into the top corner

But hey, we’ll agree to disagree it ain’t that deep  definitely a better goal than Michael Cheek’s handball finish on the line, not that I’m still bitter or anything…

As a true connoisseur I prefer your second goal. Fine bit of midfield play to win the ball back and play it through the lines, some great wing play by Miller (very much the good and bad of him in that game it looked like), a fine cut back and very composed finish into the only place he could put it.

Maybe I’m too used to clean sheets and Rusk ball but my god the defending in that game!

Aldershot defenders looked like they were having a competition to see who could look the most lethargic and incompetent. Not sure who won the contest but it was very highly contested.
Thank you for your detailed analysis, duly noted. Will be at Edgeley Park next month, where you will be expected to take advantage…:fl:

Miller was my MOTM tbf, he tore their RWB and RCB to bits all game, and the assist for the 2nd goal summed his performance up

Oyeleke made that finish look easy aswell didn’t he

Miller looks a proper weapon. We already look a bit reliant on him to create opportunities tbh! It's only his decision making at the back on occasion that's stopped him playing at a MUCH higher level before now, but of course you know that yourself. Most defenders at this level, if he decides he's going past them there's not a lot they can do about it. Like you say though weaknesses shown when he lunges in to try and cut off a pass for their (apparently handball) equaliser, instead of just letting the geezer get it and jockeying him a bit or whatever. Honesty though I hate to be a gloater but I'll take the Taylor swap at this stage, as Taylor never looked remotely capable of having the same drive and ability to beat a man as Miller does, whilst having the same defensive frailties

Miller is amazing at taking people on one vs one. If he had a remotely consistent final ball then he’d be playing way higher than this as a winger. He still could as a wing back if he can get a bit more defensive awareness, but he’ll create you plenty of goals.

I’d much rather have Miller as an individual footballer, but think I’ve said before that it’s worked out quite nicely for everyone because Notts have got probably the two outstanding creative players in the division so don’t have the same need for Miller’s skill set from our wing backs this year now Roberts is back. It’s more important for us that they’re quick and strong which we don’t really have elsewhere in the team, and Taylor looks sound on that front. If you could combine the two, you’d have some player at wing back.

You mean like when Lew says you were robbed at Stockport when your goal from basically your only shot in the whole game was rightly ruled out for a blatant push?

Thanks for explaining the rules we’ve been doing it all wrong before you lot came.
Well, it was one more shot on target than you lot managed. Paul Hurst 101 is going away and scoring off the only shot on target, so it's an officially confirmed robbery as that was definitely his plan. Blatant push too? Okay.
Can't say anything to the Grimsby lads on here without them biting your head off. I learned that the hard way.
And you've whinged about it every day since. Thought you were better than that to be honest.

It's funny, Notts fans pretty much all rated him yet he didn't score a goal for us and I don't think he actually had an assist either. He played about half a dozen good games for us, against you in the playoffs was probably his best. Burchnall definitely got way more from him than Ardley and by the sounds of it Rowe is doing so too.
To be honest I always thought he was a non league scuffler, he'll have a few good days but a decent right back with a bit of pace won't get turned and should be able to make him look pretty ordinary, quite a few did last year but if he's settled in a good team he may prosper and go on to better things. Fair play to him, he's had a nomadic couple of years and he's making the best of his move by the sounds of it.
I would say Taylor is physically stronger but less exciting going forward, he barely beat a man on Saturday and yet on the highlights he was key to a couple of our best moves, quietly effective without looking very good.
Kairo Mitchell though looks a right handful, pace, dynanmic, a bit of end product and a big unit who looks hard to stop, I'm quite excited about him, we've needed a replacement for Wes Thomas and he looks like the man who can stretch a defence to point of ragged, but it's early days.

In other news I see Joe Rowley was Kings Lynn MOTM again!! What are you lot feeding him cos I’ve not seen this type of form from him since he broke through back in 2017?

Honestly hope he keeps it up even if he is to leave us permanently. Had a rough time of it has Joe, being shoved out of position by almost every manager since he broke through. Always said it.. play him number 10, get his confidence up, and there’s a serious player in there. KL reaping the benefits of it for now

Only a couple of games so need to see how consistent he is, but I really like the look of Mitchell too. He’s a lot quicker than he looks like he’s going to be with his height. Going to struggle for starts with our front three, but looks an investment who can maybe chip in with 10 goals while we develop him over the season and be ready to step up when one/all of the others are sold next summer.

Although IB did dabble with a front four and all of them playing at the same time in the second half on Saturday…

Cod. Relax my man. Don’t let it wind you up. The more you mention it the more you look desperate.

It's more fantastic shithousing from us tbf. Sending a decent player out on loan to take some points off our challengers will do me fine.

To be fair, as was all too clear if you came to the Walks on the Bank Holiday, we don't have a lot else! That said Culverhouse's style probably plays into Rowley's skill set with us trying to play through the phases and he seems to be able to find that bit of space to make himself available to then be the pivot of our attacking threat. I also had a quick word with him at half time at the Chesterfield game and seems a really decent lad so another reason for hoping he does well.
