Seems like a pretty easy problem to solve. Can't imagine the local council wanting their name dragged through the mud over something so trivial by not allowing Forest to use the City Ground when the season starts

It would be Forest having their name dragged through the mud, not the local council whose job it is to ensure the ground has a safety certificate.

Yes it is an oversight by the club but it would be a very trivial thing to, in essence, close the ground over. It's not like the ground is unsafe in anyway, it's just a clerical error. Did this even need to make it into the public domain? Could the council not have just called the club and advised them that they don't have anyone down as the safety certificate holder and that it needed to be sorted within a certain time-frame?

If a business doesn't have a safety certificate to operate, then I think the council have to be transparent and let people know. Hopefully Forest won't be so lax with safety issues in future.

If the stadium was closed because the stands were likely to collapse at any time then yes I'd agree that people should know. This is a minor technicality which is probably now resolved and didn't particularly need to become public knowledge. It's a complete nothing story

We are the first opponents at the City ground and we have absolutely no ticket information as yet.

Capacity increased from 0 to 25k by local Council.

Should be about 8k more than they need. :2thumb:

What a shambles of a club.

Since last year, Marinakis has been facing allegations surrounding a match-fixing conspiracy involving Greek domestic games between 2011 and 2013.

Along with a number of Greek football officials and referees he has been accused of bribery and blackmail.

Marinakis is also alleged to have ordered the bombing of a bakery owned by a referee in 2012. He has also denied this.

Following a hearing in June 2015, the tycoon was obliged to pay €200,000 (£153,942) bail and banned from taking an active role with Olympiakos and in Greek football.

He has to report to police every 15 days until prosecutors decide if he will face trial in the coming months.

If the 48-year-old is found guilty of a charge of directing a criminal organisation he could face 10 years in prison, it is understood.

Just when you think Forest couldn't stoop lower than Fawaz, this guy is in pole position to take over from him

I wonder what the 'safety concerns' are as I've always thought the City ground was a tidy stadium? The main stand is a bit of a let down but the other 3 sides are pretty much spot on. The capacity is listed as 30,445.

I think it's more of an administrative issue than concerns with the ground itself... not sure that it warrants 20% off its capacity.

I agree. It seems extremely harsh for an administration cock up!

If you don't submit proof that your stadium is safe then what are the council meant to do?

There is zero defence for Forest here.

It was safe last year and, as far as I know, nothing has changed has it? Do clubs have to submit identical paperwork if nothing has been altered? I don't know so please excuse the question.

We aren't allowed to use the end block on the north stand as the h&s executive says the concourses aren't big enough to accommodate the full stand, even though there's never been a problem in that particular stand. Similar issue here maybe?

It's down to a change of staff. Currently no-one who works there is named on their health and safety certificates. I don't think there is anything dangerous about the state of the stadium but as mnb points out this is down to negligence on the club's part, not the council.

EDIT: Just seen the recent posts and article regarding a reduction in capacity. Yes I should read before I type.

Was going to say that it's a fairly new rebuilt some 20 years ago (on 3 sides at least) so it would seem very strange to limit capacity out of actual safety concerns over the structure. But seems that's it's more down to paperwork again.
