No Original Ideas?

Following a conversation with my mate last night about Breakfast at Tiffanys being the Pretty Woman of the 60s, my mate brings up a challenge for me. Having had an argument with her fella's roommate, he suggested that there are no more original ideas. Every film, book, TV story arc, video game etc. is just a rehash of something that has already been done, or just a new take on older story, or borrowed from religion, legends etc. Her best example she could give him was Inception, but apparently the whole idea behind that is based on something else. I think he is potentially right, but it depends how far you actually want to make the connection between storylines.

So there's your challenge, and something a bit different for us to talk about on here! Do you know of any films, books, TV storylines, video games etc. that you think are entirely original.

I only found out at work on Friday that they've remade The Blair Fucking Witch project, a full 17 years since the original was made. It depressed me for a minute or two. I know there's nothing new under the sun and all, but remaking films a mere 17 years old?
