Firstly, commiserations to the 46 Morecambe supporters who came.

To what extent does everything think it was Morecambe messing up or Cambridge being outstanding?

Morecambe were very, very, very poor. They didn't seem to have functioning fullbacks.

Record League victory and great fun but not a proper football match.

We were very pissed off after Saturday and more than half the team had an 8/10 performance, with the rest excellent and up for it.

It's easy being a L2 winger, fullback and CH with opposition like that. On to Meadow Lane on Saturday.

Edit: Jez was offering sympathy in advance.

Thank you Alan. I listened to the commentary and that's what I was thinking, but still, it's great to see a response from the lads after the Carlisle match. The only downside is that it looks like a lot of us couldn't make the match tonight.

In fairness Morecambe's back line and keeper were all younger than 23. Morecambe have had serious problems fort the second half of the season. Must have one of the smallest budgets in the league.

Thanks to Great Northern rail's ineptitude, yet again, I ended up missing the entirety of this game, to say I'm not happy is an understatement...

I missed it too. Did ligaments in my foot playing football on Monday. Agony yesterday and standing in the Habbin (or even making it to the ground) was not going to happen.

I've missed 4 home games this season now and we've won them all, last night being the pick. Maybe that's the secret - I need to buy a ticket and not go. We'd be promoted by March.

The last time Cambridge scored 7 (seven) in the FL was against us in their promotion season of 1999. 7-2 it managed to finish in a relatively even game where everything the likes of Taylor, Benjamin, Butler etc hit went in.

Significantly remembered for both: away fans scrapping amongst themselves in argument about the butcher of Calver (Keith Haslam) and being the sorry day that I met my ex-wife.

We left at 5-2; heard the crowd cheer at 6-2; got back to the car to hear that it finished 7-2 - at which point the whole car said in harmonical bitter unison "f*ckin seven!"

I was at that one too, was a glorious day. ;-) If I remember rightly, Mansfield had a reasonable season that year too and were in or around the play offs at the time so the score line was pretty bonkers.

Clearly a lot of regulars had difficulty getting to the match (one of my sidekicks was missing from the, noticeably roomy, Habbin with no explanation yet) but there seems to be a Tuesday effect as well. That said, I think a win on saturday would have put another thousand on the gate.

Attendance beats last season's 3,152 (103 away) on a Saturday but I think it was easily our lowest of this season (total and away fans). We did have more home fans than for Wycombe (also on a Tuesday), probably thanks to the free tickets for a few dozen Year 11 Revision Dodgers.

Morecambe looked like a pub team but we were ruthless in front of goal. It honestly could have been 10-0.

You're right, we had a nice team of tippy-tappy midgets built on a budget and your lot were a 'land of giants' juggernaut who knocked the living bejesus out of us in both games. Though we were arguably the better side first half. Though that Cambridge side would have beaten that Stags team ten times out of ten - it was a total physical mismatch.

We were in the play off positions when we went to your place and it knocked the stuffing out of our promotion ambitions.
