The fans that travel hundreds of miles on a weekly basis are the ones that will still be there if you're bottom of the league, they'll still be there when it financially turns to shite.

So yes, whilst it might mean nothing to FGR right now, and rightly so, if things go wrong, who's going to pick up the pieces? Or even start a new club if that's what is required.

You say that as if we've never experienced tough times. Bear in mind that up until about 5 years ago, we'd spent more then a decade mainly scrapping it out at the bottom of the league, save one or two seasons, had serious financial problems and were playing awful football under unsackable Dave Hockaday. The fans that kept turning up back then, (average attendance 09-10 - 1012) are what I would say are the ones that would still come if we hit trouble now, not just the 40 or 50 who have travelled to Yorkshire or Cumbria this week.

During the hard times we took 800+ to Bath for an FA Cup second round game, 300+ to Grays for a relegation decider and 400+ to Tamworth for another one the following season. Our support has grown in the last few years, but we do have a solid core that have followed the club for a long time before Ecotricity came on board.

If needed, i'm pretty confident we'd have enough fans around to pick up the pieces should the unthinkable happen. We're not a flash in the pan rich mans toy, we've got a long and proud history and enough fans to ensure the club will never disappear completely like Leigh RMI etc.

...and around 1500 to Swindon for an FA cup tie.

Absolutely. Brilliant game that, despite the weather.

Although I would say that was before the hard times at the end of noughties, under Harvey when we were doing well in the league with the Beesley-Fleetwood combo on fire and there was a real feel good factor around the place.

Funny really, back then everyone seemed to like us.

I know, how times change. When you pretty much roll-over and send most away teams back home with three points they love you, as soon as people see you as a threat to the old order...well, need I say more!

From our programme.

Also considering our position over the entire season I think our attendances both home and away aren't too bad. Same as a team who've been in the playoffs all season.

You mean his wig. Oh, and they don't have running water in Aldershot.

Good answer.

Taking quotes out of context and twisting them. Are you a tabloid journalist?

Truth is you know fuck all about FGR or our history, as your post above proves. Sometimes it's better to stay quiet and let people think you're an idiot, rather then opening your mouth and proving it.

It was a joke Chris, take a chill pill, and see you in the play-offs pal.

About 60 of us at cheating Guiseley. 35 on the coach 20 that drove up and a family of 5 that spent the weekend at York.

The table just reads " former league clubs or incarnations of bust former league clubs head the table with the ones most successful in the past getting the most". (only exception being Kiddy as they have been doing shit and Southport as they have been doing less shit.
Till a few years of course all anyone ever heard was League 1-4 scores etc, its changed a lot recently but we still dont get much coverage. People move around the country but "their team" still remains as it was- so I bet a few Grimbarians surface who live in the Midlands and will come to the Rovers on friday night. Friend of mine is Tranmere right through living in Gloucester. What I have noticed is that our league seems to be getting more well over the 1000 attendances- this is far higher than it used to be years ago before auto relegation and some media look at our league.
The lower down this table teams will one day get much more support if they stay/ become more successful but not if its just a flash in the pan couple of seasons- its as much about time and former history.
Course it means nothing as far as results for the future and willy size goes.
We will race you back down to London was a recent Chelsea fans chant at Man Utd- thats how it is for the top teams- support is strong round the country. It aint all Leicester dwellers when they play in London (* not counting the shitty tourists)

Tbf the National League/Conference does get quite a bit more coverage then it used to. Probably as much as you can expect for fifth tier football, live games on a decent channel, highlights show, much better online coverage, NLP etc. Plus most teams have live commentaries for all their league and cup games. Could always be better, but still.

You're right about there being a lot more 1000+ crowds, back when we first got up here that was considered a good turnout for a lot of clubs.

If Torquay, Kiddy and Halifax go down and are replaced by teams like Solihull, Fylde and Whitehawk then the average for the league will probably drop a bit again. Especially if Cheltenham plus one of Grimsby or Tranmere go up, and Newport and Dagenham come down.

Not a peep
Does that mean that all the Rovers fans who'd got tickets in the Chester end behaved immaculately? If so, another argument for the Cheshire stasi to keep their noses out in future. Alternatively was there serious vetting of home fans on the day to check their authenticity?

Seemingly so! Think there was one or two who clapped the goal in the main stand towards the Harry Mc but other than that you wouldn't know there was any in our end, which obviously there was. Hopefully next season (if you are still here) you will have your allocation increased and not force genuine football fans to potentially criminilise themselves.

And no there wasn't any checks on home fans as far as I'm aware.
