Presume that's the rail replacement between Dover and Folkestone? Won't be cleared for months, but it doesn't actually add any significant time onto the journey although it is obviously a pain in the arse.

Yeah it is pal, not fussed about the extra journey time just wanted to make sure it wasn't a bus that was going to end up getting stuck in town centre traffic on the day and bricked by the EDL

Yeah that's a fair point. Was rail replacement last time they came to town. Obviously it depends on timings amongst other things which we won't know until nearer the time.

There are ways round it, but it's not ideal at all. Hopefully the morons don't put too many of you off, could be a massive game for us both

Talk on our forum about the game potentially being postponed which we really don't need with our fixture congestion already. Pure speculation though

960 Grimsby at Guiseley.
Impressive.
Has Grimsby's away following gone up since you've been out of the FL? My memory of league games involving Grimsby didn't include turnouts of this volume.

A supporter of a club who'd have taken about 4 (probably) in the same situation bashing that Halifax following.

Couldn't make it up.

They've never had the draw of Nethermoor, home of the mighty Guiseley AFC before

Probably more to do with being routinely involved in the promotion race here. In League 2 our home attendances and away followings would swell up towards the end of the season when we were in a relegation fight. Recently there has been a communal pulling together and shift towards a more party like...dare I say it...ultra style of support on the road over the last few seasons. This seems to have galvanised the away followings of late. Guiseley however, saw fit to take the the drums off them last night though, the dirty bastards. That's where our power comes from. Also worth noting that there's a lot of Yorkshire based Mariners that would have been making shorter trips in that 980 than those travelling from GY/Cleethorpes last night too.

Couple of good crowds at Nethermoor recently, including decent home numbers. Bit mean not letting Grimsby take their drums in though?

Nearly twice as many as "spoilt" fans watching their "over-achieving" team at Guiseley as Forest had watching their under-achieving team at Dull...

Could be the second biggest following of the night - after Reading at Brighton perhaps.

According to Twitter Reading only brought 270.

'No drums' will be for evening games i suspect. We have some overly sensitive neighbours which can lead to major problems for the club as witnessed through our extremely protracted planning applications. Doesn't seem to matter that the ground was here long before the houses!

We may have had almost 1000 at Guiseley last night but I reckon only about 200 would have had a decent view of the pitch. I thought Alfreton was bad to get a decent view but Nethermoor was even worse.

Agreed. We went there last week and had just under 600. Two goals were scored down the goal I was stood behind, I seen neither. There was 3 or 4 rows deep behind the goal all the same level so could hardly see.

I haven't seen what the builders have put in place down that end as our last two home games have been segregated. If it is just 6" causeway kerbs giving the 'lift' then that's very disappointing. Should be at least 10/12".
Behind the goal at the home end there's no terracing at all, it's just level ground :(
Due to the long delays in Leeds Council granting planning permission the club is just doing whatever they have to in order to pass ground grading. Improvements to that will happen in the summer if we stay up.

Must have been a few away fans when we played them opening Prenton Park in 1995? 15,800 at that game, did we have ridiculous offers on?

A couple of lads in front of me made up for it though by playing their drums at full volume as they were walking back to the car!

The last 2 crucial relegation away games we played (09-10 and 10.11) we took 300+ to Grays and 400+ to Tamworth.

Plus I never said anything about our away following being great. I just find it amusing that fans of certain clubs think they can bash our support and claim to be big club only to take such a small following to such a huge game. And distance is irrelevant, surely a club of their epic size and history will have exiles scattered across the country? :fl:

It was the game when the Bebington Kop was opened and think there were discounted tickets, but I don't recall there being a particularly large Grimsby contingent. There were a fair few when we relegated them in the last game of the season, for which revenge is eagerly awaited by Mariners fans.

Sorry, your faux laughter can't hide your acute embarrassment that at the last count your pathetic excuse for a club had only managed to take 3 figures to an away game on 4 occasions despite being in the top 2 all season, while a REAL football club that has spent the season at the polar opposite end of the table had only taken less than 3 figures on the same number of occasions. All the money in the world will NEVER make you a REAL football club. :ds:

Imagine getting so worked up by B2TF that you quote an away game on the last day of the season an hour or so away as a comparison to Tuesday :lol:

I really do feel sorry for you

It was 'fill Prenton Park day'. I think to officially Mark the opening of the redeveloped ground. A lot of us had to sit in the old away section of the kop and I can only recall a handfull of Grimsby fans. 15,000+ they were the days.

What's it got to do with you? I was having a conversation and comparing willies with my mate B2TF, you weren't invited.

His is bigger, but my prosthetic extension makes mine newer and shinier.

I was at the game with discounted tickets - there were only about 300 Gy fans there, in fact I think there were locals in the away end - all very good natured though. I also went to a game near the end of the season in which we were 2-0 up but lost 3-2 - it ended a very remote hope of us making the play-offs but also put Scunthorpe's automatic promotion position at risk. Tranmere and Crewe duly crew on the final day edging out Scunthorpe who lost that day and then failed in play-offs - that must be a Lincolnshire thing because we then picked up that very bad habit, albeit a good few years later.
