People like you, as an away supporter, the new ground will be conveniently located near to Jn13 on the M5. So no more relying on satnav to navigate you round lots of little villages up and down the Stroud Valleys on your way to our current ground.
So not a big increase in home support then?

I don't expect it will lead to an immediate jump in home support but it should open up access to a wider catchment area in the district, plus there's major new housing developments also due close to where the new ground will be. I'd probably rather we stuck with the New Lawn and were just slower about growth in general (sustainably as it were) but the plans as they stand do have some sort of logic.

I'm not expecting a huge increase, certainly not taking it for granted that there will be, although many teams that have moved to new grounds have experienced a rise in attendances. Our crowds have increased over the past few seasons by modest amounts, which is definitely a positive and a reward for all those who are trying to raise the profile of the club. I am hoping that trend will continue and see no reason why it shouldn't, even if we remain at our current ground.

You should be getting 9x better crowds, home and away. Our home crowds are better and away crowds not much worse. And you've got the front to have digs at our support? Laughable.
I don't see why you are including us in this argument as we are having a nothing season and still managed to take more supporters to you than you took to us. I don't know about our away figures yesterday but last time we were away from home our support was the highest in the division. Agreed, our support isn't great but it is still generally better than yours.

Because The Boss (allegedly a Macc fan I believe) decided to have a dig at our attendance yesterday, for whatever reason.

still managed to take more supporters to you than you took to us.

As you should. You have a far bigger catchment area and have spent 20 years in the football league.

but it is still generally better than yours.

See above. Your attendances should be much bigger then ours with all the things stacked in your favour. The fact they aren't is actually quite amazing really. A team from such a small place in rural Gloucestershire getting the crowds we do is fantastic. And they are only getting bigger.

How many of your 1,500 or so home fans actually reside in Nailsworth itself though? You keep throwing up this stat about Nailsworth only having a population of c.6,000, which is all well and good, but if the majority of your support comes from the Stroud district as a whole (which I suspect it does) then you should be putting c.115,000*.

*Stat from Wikipedia, so prepared to be corrected on exact amount

The location of Macclesfield is nowhere near as good as you are making out. Fair enough, we are close to Manchester but that doesn't help as this means that most football followers where I live support one of the Manchester teams instead. South of us is the road towards the Staffordshire moorlands and to the east there is the Peak District so we get very few fans living there. Despite our relative size within Cheshire, our transport links are poor and to get anywhere near a motorway you have to drive through several other towns, as you will have found if you have ever come up here from Gloucestershire before.

Yep spot on. I have always considered Macclesfield as one of the unluckiest lower league football sides in that they're literally on the doorstep of two big PL sides. The major problem is that a lot of footy fans don't want anything to do with the small sides and 'support' one of the big sides. It has always been this way and it will always be, though I guess there's always hope that some of these glory hunters get priced out of the PL and turn to their local sides instead. The traditional non league clubs who've never been in the FL are even more affected by this as there is quite a big number of fans who don't want anything to do with NL, something which I'll probably never understand.

FWIW, I thought the FGR fans were a decent bunch prior to the game.

You're getting the FGR fans and team mixed up.
Check your own forum and more than a few say that they enjoyed chatting to the FGR supporters as we did to the Tranmere fans.

Apologies, I misread your shorthand.
Prenton Park is a fantastic place to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our day there.
Shame about the game.
No worries! The fans are welcome back any time, the pre-match beers were very pleasant indeed.

Not gunna sit here and read it all, but let me guess the theme of conversation..

Someone moaning about about away following, one of the Fgr fans defend us, then everyone slams Fgr for being a joke of a club blah blah..

Getting boring guys :/

Obviously our away support isn't great. But it doesn't mean it means any less to those of us that travel. The way you feel about your clubs, is how we feel about FGR so please stop with all the moaning and try to get along!

Tom, it would help if you actually read posts.
The above two were not as you surmised.

Seems to be more like a forest greenie forum than a General forum at the moment, however for wot it's worth I've done both forest green and Cheltenham away and even though we won at f Green it was fortunate, where at Cheltenham we should have won by at least a couple to be honest, problem is that there should be 3 teams going up, top 2 and 1 in play offs , with 3 coming down, like it used to be, the chelts and the greenies have been on a different level at times, and apart from the fish heads, no one else can get near them at times ,

Although the powers that be in this league are pushing for 3 up 3 down it would require league 2 clubs to agree. Turkey's and Christmas springs to mind

There is no reason for League 2 to be 4-up 2-down at all. Every division should be 3 up 3 down until the National League which needs to have 4 down for obvious reasons

I've always thought it a bit odd that you have four up and down between division one and two in the Football League, formerly known as divisions three and four, unless of course that is a bit of a throwback to when the old division three was regionalised. I'm nowhere near old enough to remember back then, but did they have the same problems with teams swapping between leagues that we seem to have in the Conference North and South from time to time, depending on who gets relegated from the National?

Wasn't alive at the time, but they probably had the opposite problem to the National North/South, as weren't there more Northern and not enough Southern teams in the third division back then?

So now where you've got southern teams stuck in National North, I'd imagine you had clubs north of Birmingham in Division 3 South, like Notts Forest, Port Vale, Notts County, Coventry etc. Teams that would have a lot more shorter journeys in the North.

I've re read it. To be fair I wasn't far off. Only defending our club, no need to be patronising!

Also, if you scroll up, it's also evident you may need to start reading posts :)

Oh right, im not sure whether that would have counted those in the seats as they werent segregated.
Bit of a worry there was no segregation in place.Surely there should've been a line of stewards/police and mesh netting etc.

Thought i'd bring this to this thread.

How many are Tranmere bringing on Monday?
Club are subsidising coach travel to this game. Think I'd pitch numbers slightly lower than Pablosammy 450-500ish.
