Chester fans always claim to take loads away. Even though the stated figures account for about 50% of their home crowd

I counted 15 Altrincham loyal faithful behind the goal in the second half

If they are taking 50% of their home crowd to away games then that is indeed 'loads'...... ;)

Had a chat with my chester supporting mate today about whether he should be in the tranmere end or me in the chester end on 12/9, we concluded we may struggle to get tickets for away end..... Not so sure reading this

Welcome. Great to see another side represented on here. Whats your thoughts on your start at this level. Disappointed to not win on Sat at Halifax?

At the very least I think Chester will come very close to selling out. As for the dilemma of which end to sit in, easy, you in the home and your mate in the away. Have sat in the away end with a friend before and it's orrible.

They always have an excuse too- "replay was too short notice for most people"/"we'd already won league why bother"/"we're shit, nobody could be arsed"/"bank holiday, we're all at the seaside". :bdick:

Never done that, me and a mate went in the away end when we played exeter in the late 80s when they only brought about 10 to our place on a friday..... Drunken conversation about the ideal opportunity to say we had seen football from every corner of pp

What's the capacity in the away end?

The away end holds 2500, would imagine the capacity for the Chester game will be closer to 2000 as they usually block the front seats off for games like this.

If Chester bring ALL their home support to us, I'll eat my arm.

Exactly. This is what I'm on about.
They took 1200 to our place last season and 800 the year before and we are their big local rivals.

I reckon they will bring just shy of 1000. That's the usual hardcore 2-300 who normally travel, a few hundred interested occasional fans and several hundred morons who just come out when they think they can cause trouble.

Expect a load of smashed seats. It's what they do best. All teams have moronic element but I really do feel sorry for the normal Chester fans sometimes.

TBF the stewards were very good with us. Even clapped us as we left & thanked us for coming

Probably as we'd expected, the teams in the top third are on another level, and we're in our own mini league for this season (think we just caught Wrexham cold with their new squad). Nice to have some points on the board & whilst you don't expect to drop points when you go 2-up on 90 mins, after the 3 defeats we'd have taken a draw at Halifax before the game.
I would expect us to take between 60-150 to games this season, except Welling which will be higher. Been pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we've received on our travels so far.

Oh come on, give over.

I know for a fact that Grimsby and Halifax smashed seats up in our away end last season but we didn't make a song and dance about it like you did with us, we just paid up ourselves and got on with it. A bit fed up with us playing nice now when everyone else takes advantage. We, like you and others have a small moron element.

Despite it being midweek, you brought even less to us than we took to you last season, I'd think our support at Tranmere in a few weeks will be strong, probably 2,000+.

We really need to get Scunthorpe down here; then we can have our own little Lincolnshire triumvirate bickering on here as a counter balance to this North West one that's seems to have taken over...

Scunthorpe, will, of course, be to Chester - they have hardly any fans and never have done, they only travel in decent numbers to one away game and that is Grimsby (and we are totally humiliated by being two divisions below them); the Mariners are Wrexham, with at least 50% of the fanbase originating from the exploits of splendid football teams 40 years ago, like those containing either Matt Tees and Lew Chatterley or Kevin Drinkell and Joe Waters, rather like Dixie McNeil and Arfon Griffiths. As a result these fans, or their indoctrinated offspring, are deluded into thinking the club is really entitled to be in the championship or league 1 at worst. Most have left the locality, never to return, but swell the ranks at away games all over the country, especially when it can involve drinking alot, singing alot and waving something blown up and plastic. Both are mini Leeds Uniteds in their own way. That leaves Lincoln as Tranmere - their fans always use the excuse that Grimsby are not their proper rivals for bringing feck-all fans to Blundell Park - on the ridiculous premise that Forest and County are their proper rivals.

Of course we did have Boston as well for a while - probably equivalent to Llandudno, where if you speak English you'll be ignored...

Well we didn't... but you know, anything for a story - a ball smashed 1 individual chair in the warm up.

Spanked you 4-0 and walked away happy days.

Unsure if you think he's a Grimsby fan there or if you got too carried away at the Deva this time last year!

The Bromley fans were a good laugh in the Three Pigeons considering they were about to travel 250 miles home after having a lead wiped out in 90+4 and 90+6.

That's because you barely gave us any tickets to your tiny stadium!

The entire crowd was just over 3100, of which almost 800 were Wrexham fans. 2300 home fans is a piss poor crowd for a game like that. Yet they are all going to Tranmere? Yeah right.

We had 1500 at Stockport last year for an FA Cup Qualifier so we will at least match that.

We've given you 1200 for the last two visits and you have failed to sell out both times...

I hope to do. I hope they start coming to home games as well.

I'd guess you'll take about 1000, which would still be a very good away attendance. If you take more then fantastic.

We sold 1180 the first time and 770 the second (evening game on tv) also a lot of fans have chosen not to go to the Deva because of the bubble arrangments. Prolonged because of the behaviour of your fans last year. And you will.no doubt mention the idiots with the disrespectful banners at the first Racecourse game. But Chester fans have in the three games since thrown flares, smashed seats and interrupted a minutes silence with offensive chanting. Just a few morons though.

Just responding to the made up accusation that we smashed seats at the Deva! When in fact it was a stray ball!

Actually doing well for a change and yet all they can do is just babble on about our away support, we should be flattered. We're living rent free up in a few heads I suppose.
