Happy with Oxford being shifted South at the expense of Lowestoft.

Happy for Oxford ;)

Just a few observations though.

Firstly, why have King's Lynn been moved to the Southern League? Surely you don't get much more eastern than King's Lynn. Why them and not Halesowen or Stourbridge? Also, Bashley seem to have been reprieved in the Southern Div 1 South and West after finishing with 8 points and a -128 goal difference. Aren't they just going to get thrashed almost every game next season as well?

Its rather bizarre how the Ryman Premier always manages to stay pretty regional

Yet you have the Southern Premier with teams like Bideford, Kings Lynn, Weymouth, Kettering, Merthyr, Slough, Leamington, Cambridge, Redditch etc

For a socalled Southern League the travelling is ridiculous

It's just lucky Truro managed to escape last season. Truro to King's Lynn is a 12-13 hour round trip which is pretty ridiculous. Bideford is still a long trek from Norfolk though.

Daventry are now in the NPL South while the slightly more northern/eastern AFC R&D are in the SPL Central too. I think in general eastern teams are seen to be routinely shuffled south before equivalent western teams, which does make it strange that Oxford City have been moved south prior to Lowestoft. The latter case could also be down to giving clubs at least two seasons in the league so their staff don't have to undergo repeated upheaval, which I seem to remember kept Worcester City in the Conference South when Gloucester City were first brought into the North. Done on an individual basis, it's obvious Lowestoft want to play in the South though and may as well be placed there. I can't personally comment but knowing how much of an arse King's Lynn is to get to, Lowestoft must be really exceptional.

Personally I find the southern slump in the NPL grim but inevitable. When we were in it I remember the most southern teams being Chasetown (Walsall/Brownhills area) and Hucknall (north of Nottingham). I feel the counties leagues are unfairly fixed towards southern sides and because of this these travel issues will remain inevitable.

I used to go out with a girl in Kings lynn . Bristol to Kings Lynn once or twice a week , absolute nightmare, felt like a major expedition every time I left the station .

True. We've even managed to rid ourselves of some of those pesky Suffolk clubs in the last couple of seasons with Bury and Lowestoft exiting in different directions. Just Leiston to go now...

Sympathies. This is my guess at public transport between Bristol and Norfolk:

When you say slightly, in terms of the grounds currently played at, it's got to be on the order of about a mile further north! This is more for the benefit of those that don't know the area. I actually had to double check! It's sensible however since Daventry is just off the M1, and thus an easier journey for many NPL clubs.

Very relieved to be in the SLD1C, as you point out inadvertently, we were very close being in the Northern!

I'd be curious to see how the divisions would look if someone ran an algorithm over it to minimise the total travel for all clubs regardless of traditional league structures or "footprints"
