So it’s back, time to walk down the Sixfields hill and settle in for another season of glorious, swashbuckling football. Sadly I won’t be there to watch Curle’s title winning side embark on their journey as I shall be away sunning myself.

First day is always a bit of a lottery, don’t really know who’s done good business over summer until you see them competitively but it seems we battered MK on Friday so hopefully we can carry that over.

Gonna plump for a 2-1 win, Harry Smith and Chris Lines with the goals

We are still could do with another wide man and pace up top if Morias is going to be binned off but generally we have pretty good options all over the pitch.

Curle loves his 3 at the back but I reckon we will start 4-2-3-1 along the lines of:

GK: Cornell
RB: Hall-Johnson
CB: Goode
CB: Turnbull
LB: Martin
CM: Lines
CM: McCormack
CAM: Warburton
LW: Hoskins
RW: Adams
ST: Smith

Could see Wharton fit in and easily go to 3 at the back instead. Despite our patchy results in pre season I think that is a really solid team at this level, lot of reliance on Warburton and Adams to create though.

2-1 Cobblers I will go with.

I’ll go for a 1-0 Walsall win. Darrell Clarke has got us looking solid and organised with a strong back 5 and a very robust and hard working midfield, just need some goals. We will probably look the most dangerous from corners or set pieces when we can bring the big men up and hopefully we will nick it. There will be a lot of very excited and drunk Walsall fans too celebrating the news of our take over too.

Kind of a strange thing to say, but it’s a little bit like the result doesn’t matter in this one, even though it does. It’s mostly about a party in the away end, finally the shackles are released from the rent collector after 27 long and soul destroying years.

Only 130 tickets left in the away end/side, I can’t make it due to work. But I will go with a steady early season 1-1.

Don't know how we didn't score. Tell you the truth, I do, your keeper had a blinder, must have been your MotM.
The point blank towards the end especially was outstanding. We'll have less chances in future games and score a shed load.
There we go, the season is underway, excellent turn out and good noise from the Walsall fans. We'll have to start our points tally away at Port Vale next week...
