Awful news. That rent is obscene and would be in the region of your typical step four team's complete gate receipts. The fact they got through five rounds in the FA Cup and still can't meet up to it shows what a bullying bind they were in.

Can't see a way back into the game for them, and our teams' paths never crossed, but the loss of their senior and amateur teams is an injustice.

Sad to hear. Insane that in a world where Premier League footballers routinely earn £100,000 a week, a rent hike to a fifth of that sees a club forced out of business.

Well bugger I'm going to have to do the list of reprieves....

Seriously though this is really sad news, and it is very unfortunate that a club are completely solvent but put in a position where they would not be able to continue. If they can't raise the money reliably, then it is a good decision to quit now before it hurts people. Hopefully the ground owners will turn around and come back with a more reasonable offer.

In a way their survival could've still rested on that FA Cup run. If they'd have somehow drawn Port Vale, you never know, more would have been aware of their plight and it could've been a big issue for Stoke North next month...

Horrendous news. They must be devasted.

Really feel for them. they and they appear to be a really friendly and well liked club too.

If half a dozen Stoke players chipped in a week's wages each the club could survive.

Whoever the Welfare are , they havent got the welfare of the local community in mind.

Their crowds are up 35% this season, so you can't say the fans aren't getting behind them.

Gutted.

Used to live right by their ground at Community Drive when I was young. Would sneak in and watch pub football on a Sunday.
