My first trip to Carrow Road tonight and I probably picked the worst game of the season to bloody watch. Pretty poor throughout from both sides aside from the goal, although the build up to that could have been prevented. No doubt Norwich were the more threatening, but they didn't really have any shots or clear cut opportunities. Disappointing stuff.
Couple of things I will say however is that Gavin Ward was pretty shocking as per, although it's not his fault Norwich didn't score as some of the fans I was surrounded by seemed intent on believing. And also Wigan are the biggest time waisters I've seen in a long time...and can you blame them!
Atmosphere was flat from the get-go. The 11 Wigan fans out-sung the rest of the ground but that wasn't nearly as embarrassing as our performance. Wigan scored from their first shot and put everyone behind the ball - as you'd expect from a side desperate for points. We just couldn't break them down, didn't look like scoring at all. Just so predictable in our build-up, so easy to defend against. Don't think we had a clear-cut chance all game, can't remember their goalkeeper having to make a save - the stats say we had 2 shots on target but back passes shouldn't really count. Think we missed Tettey - seem much more balanced when he's in the side.
Oh well, you can't win them all and I'd rather we lose to Wigan than to any of Wolves/Watford/Blackburn/Ipswich.
PS where do they find these referees/officials. Had no effect on the result, certainly not the reason we lost, but fucking hell, they were awful. Not quite as embarrassing as us but not far behind.
Just had the feeling right from the get go that it was going to be one of those nights. Nothing came off for us. Think having 4 huge games before this probably did it for us. The intensity wasn't there and it was all a bit flat. Wigan defended well and stopped us having the space to create too many real chances. The ref was awful but I don't think he had too much impact on the result.
