Don't recall ever winning at home against Oldham, needs to change on Saturday but this is the sort of pick me up we give teams.

2-0 Oldham as we whimper away to the Fourth Tier under our wonderful shrewd tactician of a manager.

The last one was Nicky Maynards brace in 2007.

1-0 Oldham and the fans to continue to sing 'one Steve Davis' for some incredible reason.

not a clue what to expect here. Don't think we have any players back from injury and not sure if anyone is coming in. Anthony Gerrard linked from Hudds according to sky, could do with him as we are down to the bare bones.

1-1

Gerrard signs and Lockwood back from suspension. Has the potential to be the slowest centre half pairing ever but id go for it as we have conceded 12 in 5, plus Dieng and Kusunga looked like a comedy act on Tuesday.

Either way I will be there, Crewe is up there with one of the best away days for me. 30 minute train Journey and then to walk out of the station to pubs, the ground and one of the nicest chippies ive ever eaten at. Im not too arsed about the football.

Always thought that myself. Must be good to be an away fan at Crewe, with the train station, pubs, chippy, half decent away end and 3 points, what more could you want.

Reckon team tomorrow should be

Rachubka

Davis-Tate-Guthrie

Turton-Jones-Grant-Atkinson-Leigh

Ikpeazu-Ajose

Jamie Ness and George Ray appear to be injured but if passed fit then they're in for Atkinson and Guthrie respectively. Noticed a few fans are calling for the dropping of Harry Davis after two poor showings, will only agree with these views if he has a shocker tomorrow because none of our cover players seem to be capable as it is.

I'd certainly like to see Ikpeazu and Ajose start upfront, Haber hasn't done to bad and it seems a little harsh dropping him whilst others who have under performed much more stay in the team. But I think we stand the best chance with Ajose and Ikpeazu playing together.

Only doing this on the basis that these two really caused Oldham problems when they were on the ball last time we played. I'd fancy our chances past their back four in all fairness but we're long overdue really punishing a bad defence. I mean look at Yeovil, should've scored about 5 yet only managed the one!

Who needs a proven strike pairing in Ajose & Uche when we can start tinkering at this stage of the season hey?

Bar his calamitous first game, I think he's been ok. Made some standard saves, kicking is pretty good, like how he tries to play the ball early.

I mean, I think its a good sign when your keeper has conceded 12 in his last 4 games and he could have done little about any of them. Shows how much our defence are hanging him out to dry.

Embarrassing. Lost to a shocking side. No urgency at all. Players out of position. We look like relegation fodder.

Oldham wanted it more and fair play to them. We need change at this club bigtime.

Davis just has to go im sorry. If you can't motivate a team for a game as big as that then you are in the wrong job, simple as.

That should be enough for us.

Daft I've even had to say that given our position 6 weeks ago.

Still, Latics being Latics, it'll probably go down to the wire.

Crewe will stay up.

Today was honestly the worst game of football i have ever seen in my life, Oldham were shit and we were even worse.

Its become a running theme for us under Davis.. Incredibly crap games. I started watching Crewe when I was 8 and we were incredibly enjoyable to watch and entertaining at the worst of times.. Yes we had really good players but it was the mentality that we had behind us and we'd attack anyone. What must an 8 year old think when they come the Alex now? There's no way that we'll attract them as supporters playing the way that we have in the last 3 years and long term that's extremely unhealthy for our club.

Surely just extremely optimistic.. Or as the typical Crewe fan seems to be, very very gullable.

Seconded. Started watching us at a young age, I remember exciting games and valiant defeats. I remember taking great pride in seeing our Crewe side lose 4-3 in a thriller against a Reading side that set an all-time-record for number of points gained (106). We didn't care about opposition and we conceded shit tons but we also scored a lot and it helped our attacking players Hulse, Ashton, Varney, Maynard et al the confidence and the finishing ability that made them fantastic players in the higher divisions.

Now we play five loanees a game, we play ultra defensive tactics, we rarely score goals, we concede even more than we used to despite the complete change of tactical emphasis and we're not even playing our attack-minded youth.

Our home-grown defence have been lacking a leader for ages, soon as we get one in Alan Tate we're not conceding anymore but then we put him in holding mid and the goals start flying in once more. Can you believe that? Harry Davis seems undroppable and I'm convinced we'd be in League Two this season if he didn't have his season ending injury last season. I don't dislike him but he's not a big game player and always seems to have a mistake in him of late. He lacks the mentality in a way Kelvin Mellor did and he was prone to so many errors, think he got into double figures with errors last season till he was finally dropped. George Ray has improved since his original shambles of a season but it annoys me how the club were eager to give contracts to one of the statistically worst defensive pairings in its history when that area is crying out for improvement. We're conceding 75-80 goals a season on average and that's a disgrace.

Ever since Garratt got injured we've gone incredibly ultra-defensive. Rachubka has conceded 13 goals since his own goal vs Barnsley. Not once was he at fault for any of the goals. Harry Davis has been responsible for the majority of them in that time but he ain't getting dropped anytime soon.
