Swerts has been superb at right-back, Bennett had a bit of a shocker. Just an off night in general really, can only really think of Aborah who had a good game, as he probably will every week because he's far too good for us and this division

Who was Anorah? Was he the really little and pointless defensive midfielder? All he did was pass it sideways and backwards.

All these boners over the Notts squad and they lose at home to Mansfield.

Anyone who's been a Notts County fan for any length of time isn't in the least bit surprised this happened. Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No.

We never seem to do well against Mansfield (or indeed any big crowd) at Meadow Lane.

Mansfield were clearly a bad team, but a bad team will always win against one who aren't up for it.

we were fortunate today, we turned up on a day when we played brilliantly and county were beyond hopelessly. They were beyond terrible - worse than ive seen in some while.

Certain things are fact of life, death, taxes and Mansfield won't lose to county and their silent fans at meadow lane

we were beyond hopelessly. Apparently. Not really sure how anyone can debate this game, both teams were shite, one just got their tactics right from the start, nicked a goal and then could afford to sit back and be cynical for 45 minutes. Nothing to be ashamed about, why lie and pretend you were brilliant and played fantastic football, is beyond me. I've enjoyed many shite Notts away performances than ended in us shithousing our way to victory.

The ref tonight was an utter embarrassment too. Thought they might have assigned a good one considering the situation - the bloke was out of his depth from 60 seconds onwards.

Agreed - the yellow card when green was in one on one when it was a red was a shocker.

You had to wonder how a side so short of ability, ideas, and nous won their opening 2 games

Stevenage was a perfect opening game for us. They like us had plenty of upheaval in the summer. This game just came too soon.

The interesting thing will be how we react against Oxford Tuesday. Another performance like this and I think quite a few changes will be made

What? He was. Just an observation, not saying it had any impact on the game...other than the fact you could've played 88 minutes with 10 men obviously. I reckon a good 15 minutes of the game was basically just him talking to players or spending ages getting everything set for free-kicks before blowing his whistle.

We wanted it more than Notts, we all said about 10 minutes in that Notts don't fancy a battle like we do, Murray really got us going, simple as that! We were by far the better team and deserved the win, I reckon we could've been 3-0 up by time we scored the first!

I thought our defence was fantastic tonight though, limiting Notts to 2 chances which Jenson saved very easily! The closest they came to scoring was when it was crossed to Stead in the second half but Mal Benning made a perfect last ditch clearance.

Great atmosphere, good battling performance... fantastic night!

Both our '98 and '10 championships at this level were won playing two up front at home. Now, Moniz has shown slightly more tactical nous and a little more willingness to change things than some of his predecessors (though that isn't really saying much), so I hope he now sees playing Stead up front on his own is just a terrible idea. He was pretty easily marked, and the service he got he wasn't great either. Not his fault, just completely the wrong set up.

Losing to Mansfield in their cup final needn't define your season as we showed.

Some pathetic comments from county fans... their forum seems to have all the level headed fans.

"clearly a bad side" We sussed you out and made you look cack, 18 years unbeaten at meadow lane now so good night and welcome to league two.

What a great night that was. Fantastic atmosphere, under the lights. A proper derby. Really enjoyable.

We've all had a go at Murray's tactics since he's come in (especially away from home) but tonight he got it spot on. We pressed County high up the pitch and forced them into mistakes. Playing Rose on the right to nullify the left wing was a great idea. Looks as though we did our research. We played well against a decent Notts side, created some good chances & limited them to pretty much nothing. Time wasting after 40 mins was risky business but paid off in the end.

Special mention to our defence too. Many people (including me) questioning Tafazolli & Pearce but tonight, they were exceptional. Didn't miss a thing. Pearce looked completely different tonight, looked assured & calm. Could be a decent signing should he keep that up.

Notts are clearly a decent side though, play good football & clearly have some very good players. Only thing I'd be concerned about if I were a Notts fan is the fact the look like a side quite easy to beat when they're not on form. I imagine when they are on form though, they will pick apart teams.

Wow. The definition of a sore loser, while also speaking bollocks.

Congratulations

I have to give credit to Mansfield, I felt they played well and actually seemed fired up enough to want to win. That said, several moments where by their tactics annoyed me, such as some of the challenges and the repeated attempts to foul Roy Carroll but when they played football, it was enjoyable to watch.

Notts seemed to be missing that extra bit of quality to get into the game but at times we passed it around nicely, mind not enough as we should have done.

Jenner for me should have been taken off at half time, he seems unfit and struggling.

I'd also go as far to suggest we need two strikers, yet Stead and Spencer are so much a-like that it is hard to see how either will play off each other unless a other positions chip in with goals. I'm disappointed but as mentioned before, I'm not surprised. I felt with the attendance being so good, we had the chance to turn a corner by putting on a good performance but sadly, many fans spoke to me during, at half time and afterwards - It was depressing.

This season should be a turning point but I just hope these performances are just small blips.

Impressed with how magnanimous many Notts fans have been in defeat, showing a class that many groups of fans wouldn't. Saying all that it isn't what they'd want to hear, especially after such a disappointing display from their side.

I think from the first minute there was only one team that really wanted it and I was really chuffed with our desire levels; and trust me after 2 years of anti-football it's like watching 1970 Brazil in comparison, though of course opposition fans aren't going to notice that.

Not sure why, but Notts struck me as lethargic and a little lacking in ideas, even a bit disheartened, I don't know why that would be but this morning I'd feel more encouraged as a Stags fan, thinking it's only our small squad that could stop us from having a decent season.

How come when we play Chesterfield or Notts it is classed as 'their cup final'.

Do Spireite and County fans not look forward to our derbys as much?
Perhaps that's why we've seemed to have had the edge in them and tells you that you need to up your game in future?

I just wonder if the "step down" did for them - not allowed time and space in midfield they panicked when we constantly pressed them and they had no answer to IT - constantly giving the ball away cheaply - maybe some of our tackling was a little bouysterous at times and they just ran out of ideas.

Thought the midfield and green were fantastic again - really got something about them.

Lastly, go to hand it to the Mansfield fans - great away following - but the noise was immense - non-stop.

You aren't a cup final

Sadly we are though I wish we weren't. Would you believe we still have to put up with "Calvin Andrew 1-0!!!" despite us winning the league that season?

anyway, County, sort yourselves out. pathetic result.

Well yes, but your fellow spireite suggested it meant more to us than you guys - obviously not the case

Notts and us are always gonna be their cup final in current times. A rivalry takes more significance when one side has something to prove, or it deemed as the 'weaker'. Mansfield had spent a few years under County, so had something to prove. Mansfield had been in non league for a couple of years before playing us, so had something to prove.

It's in the same as us playing Sheff United today. They don't see it as owt else but a local game, but we see it as more cos we had years of them stealing fans from our gates, being belittled, and playing at a lower level.

What complete drivel.

What you are saying effectively is that you lot have little care in beating the side 12 miles away? ... If you say so.

Comparing yourself to Sheffield United is probably the most deluded comment yet from a spireite. You've had a good couple of seasons, we haven't. Pull your head from out your Y-fronts.

Back to the game..

County were completely absymal in my opinion, I can barely recall them threatening all game! They shown no desire, ability, anything really. The fact Mansfield played decent at best, and beat them with quite ease looking back on it now shows that.

Mention to Green for leading the line so well too, he should of scored but either way he still set up the first and he's looked quality in the first two games.

Overall a fantastic night for the stags, but we still need to improve a lot.

Forgot this was last night, bit of a surprise result but with the amount of signing County have made it's going to take time to gel.
