Sorry chaps. Had a lot of issues with my mouse recently, not sure if it's knackered or if I have some issue with my USB slots on my PC... been playing up a lot during this, means unplugging it and putting it back in all the time. Meant this quiz thing not running as smooth as I'd have liked, but we should be back on track now.
As it stands:
Veggie: 2
Hodge: 1
Aber: 0
With only 2 questions left, Veggie cannot lose this now, so he will survive. He can continue to answer if he wants though.
At the top of the mountain, Aberstone stands in shock... he's been unable to get the points he needs, and has been chosen by the shadow to become the sacrifice... The shadow approaches him... and begins to drain his life.
But Hodge isn't having any of it! He pulls out the glass sword and strikes at the shadow! The glass sword shatters and the shadow screams in pain! It backs off and swiftly slides off down the mountain. In his fast retreat, he drops the 4th stone, which Veggie retrieves.
Hodge goes to check on Aberstone... he's unconscious, but alive. The adventurers have cheated death for Aberstone here... but it has cost them their glass sword.
Hodge and Veggie (somehow) carry Aber back down the mountain and bring him back to camp. Aberstone is still out cold...
Aberstone must not post in this thread until he has woken.
That glass sword was always going to have one use to it, three of these NESW quests had a condition where the sword could have shattered... the best use of it would have been in saving it for this one, turning death into simply being unconscious.
OOC: I'm happy Veggie chose to kill me rather than a certain CoT member in SUTSS. As I had told Veggie in a prior PM I have emigrated back to Barcelona today, so won't be able to be as active as I was. I thought I'd at least go out all guns blazing and throw a bit of drama into the game. I do now feel bad for Paul Haddock, as he's hardly an established member and I cruelly assassinated him. It was completely based on in-game suspicions, though! Good luck against the wolves!
I have to say that being that close to death gave me a lot of time to do some thinking. A lot of time to be thinking about how Rammy had broken my heart. At the age of 7 I played my first video game, designed by Rammy it was. It changed my life forever. From then on I was addicted. I've played every game that Rammy has ever designed. The first piece of software I developed was for the North American Rammy Appreciation Society. NARAS then helped crowd fund my app that allowed you to change every picture on the internet to a picture of a cat, the app that would make me millions. All because of Rammy and he does this to me.
I'm even only on this cruise because of Rammy. My mother said that it wasn't fitting for a multi millionaire to spend all day sitting in the basement playing World of Warcraft. I argued that on Thursday nights I go round Greg's and play Magic the Gathering, on Saturdays I go to Warhammer Club and every second Sunday Steve hosts a D&D day where we drink lots of Mountain Dew. She didn't seem won over by that. I remembered reading an article about Rammy and his love for cruises. I hacked into his email account and saw a booking confirmation for this cruise and went and bought a ticket myself. All to meet the great man.
I will never buy a Rammy game again. I will still play them but I will borrow them off Greg or Steve so Rammy doesn't get any of my money.
As had been the case more often than not, no execution votes were made during this day so they were all able to go to bed with a clear conscience for the day.
If true, this was a real game changer… not only were three people amongst the group wolves, intent on spilling their blood each night… if the voice was to be believed, one of the people within their group was the beast incarnate!
The survivors, as they had so often before, rushed out of their sleeping bags and quickly tried to find the source of the voice… but could see nothing. After not too long though, they noticed that Mr Elmo was not among them. They went to his tent to check on him, only to find it torn to shreds with his mangled corpse inside.
After that peice of bad news, the camp got some good news... when Aberstone regained consciousness! The first thing he did was to thank Hodge for saving his life.
After the events the of previous day, the survivors were feeling a little worse for wear to say the least. Not only had their quests brought about nothing more than another riddle, they now had the fear that Satan himself was living among them.
While Aberstone was taking Veggie Legs for a walk, he saw movement in a nearby bush… Veggie charged the bush and soon after diving into it Aber heard the cry of a man…
“AAAH! GET IT OFF! STUPID DOG!”
The rest of the survivors hurried over to see this stranger fall out of the bush, Veggie on top of him baring his teeth. Who the hell was this guy?
“Stop! Get him off! I’ll explain everything!”
Veggie stood down and the group surrounded the stranger, waiting to hear what he had to say.
“My name is John Fallon. I’m the one who left that note along with the sword and that stone tablet. I’ve been watching you since you got here.”
Magic looked piss off. “YOU sent us on that wild goose chase to gain nothing more than a riddle carved on a stone? That’s reason enough to lynch you right here and now as far as I can see…”
A few murmurs of agreement came from the group, but the man kept on.
“No, that was no wild goose chase, it tells you everything you need to know… you just need to know the specifics.
Look, I was part of a group like you once. My ship suddenly died out at sea and then drifted here. And I know that I wasn’t the first group to land here… I’ve found a lot of old campsites full of bodies. God knows how many different groups have gone through this process… don’t go thinking that you’re the first.
There were 20 of us… but 3 of us were wolves. They tore the rest to shreds, I… well, I ran off to hide right towards the end. Yes, I know, I was a coward. But we just kept on lynching people we thought may be wolves and getting it wrong until there weren’t enough of us, I panicked. And now I’m the only one left…
I know that one of you is Satan. Hence the fact that I was trying to not get involved with you guys, but I guess you’ve found me now. But I can help. I’ve been here longer than you and I know stuff about this island.
And most importantly, I know how to get more information on how to defeat Satan. There is only one way to kill him off… and I know the next step in doing so. We can start to get clues… but in order for them to start coming to you, you must first defeat Satans great demon. He is on this island and I know where he is, but I had no chance of taking him out alone. But with you guys… we’ve got an army. We can take him. And once Satans great demon is dead and Satan is alone, he will become restless and arrogant, still confident of a win… signs will begin to show. Satan is vain… he won’t be able to resist revealing himself over time. What say you all?!”
The group had a debate about this… could they trust this man? Maybe not. But if it was between following this man to wherever it is he wants to lead them or just sitting around waiting to die… I guess there wasn’t a choice to make.
