So the first of a long run of home games against what I consider a nothing team. Don't offend me, not got a soft spot for them, don't even know what they are doing in the league from week to week.

Form has picked up this past month and we got the monkey off our backs, beating gills at home last time out. Top 6 form at present so our position is a bit false.

I would hope to get another win here although we don't score enough. Can't predict what the team will be as shez will prob rest a couple. Forte was missing from the squad yesterday and Jones should be nearing fitness but in truth it's anyone's guess.

I'll go latics 1-0

Big couple of games against two sides in the bottom four, if we have any single aspiration of somehow getting into the top six then we need six points from this and Colchester.

Our away form is poor but now we are safe we may as well be nice and positive like we are at home and go out for the win. If we can play as well as we did Friday night then we've got a decent chance although won't be a walkover with Oldhams form improvement.

Think we will get a disappointing draw 1-1 which will leave us with minimal play off chances but chance to put out feet up until August when it all starts again.

Would stick with the formation change from Friday with the 4-4-1-1 and try and dominate the midfield with Doddsy just behind AJ.

Big game for us. A loss here would put a right dampener on recent form.

I reckon we can pick up another home win though and keep the unbeaten run going.

After a good result on Friday, we really need to follow it up for once.
We're so inconsistent it's not even funny and don't seem to have the desire to really push on towards the play off places when we are in with a sniff.
Oldham are in great form and I have to be honest that I thought they'd do better this season. It seems the combination of a poor manager and too many draws in the first half of the season has proved their downfall.

I hope we don't expect an easy game as we sometimes have the 'turn up and win' attitude off the back of a good result. Our midfield looks good with 3 quality players in there and a youngster who looks very promising. I'd hope to play Innis as I just don't trust one of McGivern or Duffy to not make a mistake. We're shy upfront really and that will be our problem, scoring goals. We're solid enough but if we go a goal down it's basically game over.
In order to be right in the mix we need maximum points from this and Colchester on Saturday but for some unknown reason we always seem to struggle at Boundary Park. It's quite a tight pitch and we have historically struggled on such pitches.

I'm expecting a narrow defeat really as Oldham need the points more than us.

Rarely get anything here even going back as far as plastic pitch days. We are horrific away, 2-1 Oldham.

Recall a fairly decent run of form at Boundary Park bar the first season back in L1. Few draws and wins in the mid 00's and a point last season.

It depends on what Vale turn up really, my concern is the pitch looked a mess on recent highlights which wont suit our game very well, i'd like to see Inniss start though as we are so much better with him.

Without being an anorak ( which this will suggest i am ) we have won 2 of our last 18 visits , both in a 6 month spell Feb 2006 and Aug 2006. So as per my post we rarely get anything !!

Have only lost 1 in 6/7 though, would a point be bad? Tbf we won't make the top 6 and need 1 more win to stay up so I'm pretty much in end of season mode already

Our local radio commentator has just said the Oldham pitch is the worst he has ever seen for any professional match. Sounds like we're getting our excuses in early.

Looked awful on highlights a couple weeks ago.

It's far better tonight than its been the last 2 month.

Tbf it's a desso pitch that's 3 or 4 year out of date. It's shocking

As for the game it needs a goal. Grant is more concerned with winning free kick than games.

We look to have the possession but pv look good on the brake. Personally think it's 0 v 0 written all over it

Disappointing but expected. Got to stop giving away silly penalties. Sounds like we missed a sitter just before too!

Fair result in the end. Same as first half we again had possession but Vale created the better of few chances. Coleman costs us every week and for.me that's again gotta go down as a gk error

Makes a change, we usually have the possession but create nothing (apart from pretty triangles in our own half)

Not a bad point really in the end away from home. I would have taken it before the game.
How has Foley and then AJ missed those sitters? - it was harder to put it over the bar and Foley should have scored in the first place! If that goes in it's game over.
The penalty looked very very soft and I'd be amazed if that was given 9 times out of 10, poor decision but the referee looked like an 'it's my show' type.
Win on Saturday and it won't look so disappointing but even if we do catch up with the play off places, the teams around us have 2 games in hand. You'd expect us to be about 5 points short once everyone has caught up.

From the highlights, good effort from Foley to hit that low enough to cause the problems to deflect for the goal, poor keeping mind.

AJ and Foley had two bites of the cherry to finish the game off and seemed harder not to score, could be costly come May.

Penalty is soft, Page is furious about it and seems to claim from the replays their lad pulled Duffy down onto him, very unlucky with Neal making a great save but rolling back across the line.

The ref basically can't make a call on who has fouled who in that situation but because their man went down like a sack of shit he awarded the foul to them. Like I say 9 times out of 10 the ref waves that away but it seems some referees want to make the game changing decisions as some sort of narcissistic proof that they aren't afraid to make them.

And I'm 100% certain you wouldn't have that opinion if it was the other way round. For what it's worth I think it was soft but it's swings and roundabouts with grant more interested in winning free kicks than scoring, and Holloway getting nailed second half and somehow conceding a free kick

Don't get me wrong, I'd take the penalty all day long as anybody would, but even if it was awarded to my team I'd think it was very, very soft. There's nowt wrong with saying that your team shouldn't have been awarded a penalty. it's just frustrating that it seems they are awarded for anyone going down in the box, regardless of whether it's a foul or not.

Grant is bad for doing that - he tends to go down before people have touched him (and can be subject to some play acting on occasion) but conversely he is good at angling his body so that he wins free kicks and takes the pressure off.

Why did Foley get booked for excessive celebration?! Watched a YouTube of the goal from the away end and doesn't seem to do much other than slide on his knees.
