If someone makes a new thread in the time it takes me to press 'Create Thread', I will look like a tit...

Is this the most obvious 0-0 of all time?

In a word.
Yes.

So it'll probably be 4-4.

It's ages since we played you. We don't have the same strike force. The goals are coming from all over the pitch.

The winner on Friday came from a centre back.

Do try and keep up.. :dis:

We're crap at home and we have a typical old boy crowd.

0-0 or 1-0 Hartlepool.

We've gone 4 unbeaten ...the last 3 of those without conceding, I see no reason not to extend that record ....I'm hoping 1-0 Pools but thinking 0-0 ... I would personally appreciate it if an Os fan on here can give an opinion on our back line , the same personnel that were shipping goals are now unbeatable , all down to our new No 2

I saw yous against Crawley. In my opinion the defence was massively helped by the midfield three, Featherstone filling in the space and gaps whilst Gray and Hawkins man marked the midfield runners. Bates I liked the look off a lot, despite not being the tallest he can certainly hold his own in the air and he looked excellent playing it from the back. Jackson looked like an aerial wall, was less convinced about him on the deck. Magnay and Carroll (although he struggled initially with the fleet footed Edwards, he was quick to recover) both defended well + supported the attack well and Magnay in particular looked to be involved in a lot of transitional play. Generally looked solid although there was occasion that if the defence was caught out of position they seemed slow to recover - McAlinden's chance and a couple of quick throws down the line were where this was most noticeable.

Hartlepool seemed organised, they had a game plan and stuck to it. Everyone seemed to know their roles and there was a purpose to your play, something a number of teams lack. Didn't look like a bottom level side from the back and the middle although going forward only Thomas looked like making something happen - there were a number of crosses and it surprised me how rarely Paynter looked to get into the area whilst I thought James looked absolutely atrocious. Gray also made some nice runs.

Although - it is worth noting it was only Crawley and they're in general one of the worst teams I've seen this season.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing a right back and a plodding centre mid out wide again, with Nolan picking himself instead of someone who can pass or run and no-one in the back four capable of playing a shorter pass than 30m.

Won't be able to comment on Hartlepool's defence, as they will put 3 men on Simpson and we won't have a shot on target.

Cheers for that Llama ...Jackson was man of the match on Friday .... Thomas aside I fully expect a new midfield next season ....if you didn't alrrady know it , Curtis Flemming has taken over defensive coaching , the turnaround in just over a month has been staggering , with the same defenders ...Not many Poolies would have sent Mathew Bates a Christmas card , but now he's got to be on the 'must keep' list

As for today,we put 3 past you when we were pretty gash to be honest & we have improved vastly since then,so 1-0 Orient.

Another awful performance from us at home, a combination of losing our 2 wingers through International Duty with no suitable replacements and our best two centre halfs through injury and suspension combined with another poor selection by Kevin Nolan lead to another defeat.

Hartlepool were tactically spot on, they sat back and hit us on the counter attack twice with two well taken goals. We had the majority of the ball but again lacked any real quality until Lloyd James came on. Jay Simpson is trying to do it all himself up front and is getting frustrated.

Nolan has to drop himself, he offers the team nothing and its now getting to the point where fans are turning against him.

Hartlepool were much improved from earlier in the season and looked alot more solid and counter attacked well, Nathan Thomas their stand out player for me.

Who is going to stop Hartlepool?

In fact who is going to actually score against Hartlepool?

No-one if Carson keeps pulling off saves like the two he made in the last 10 minutes.

We were utter dog shit, but Oxford would be as well if Roofe, O'Dowda, Maguire, Dunkley and whoever their other centre half is were all taken out the side, Sercombe was left on the bench, Bowery chucked into midfield and the rest of the poor bastards asked to play long ball to two lampposts.

If there's a better keeper in the league than Carson,I've yet to see him.
Sounded like a straight forward win,Orient only threatened in the lastv10 minutes

Agreed regarding Adam Smith - Best keeper in this division for me this season as well. One of the reasons Northampton have done so well.

Delighted with this win. Despite our recent run, I was quite dubious over whether we could keep it going - especially as we started to look tired on Friday, and thought Paynter could've done with a rest. It's one we would've definitely lost under RM.

Higgy, and Fleming, are working wonders. Although, they have just took us back to basics. Hard to break down, picking the correct players in their correct positions. It's amazing what simplicity can do. We have always had the players with the ability to perform to this standard (some fans would blindly disagree), it's just taken a bit of guidance to get them there. A couple of additions in the summer and I really think we will be a force to be reckoned with next year. I wasn't one to get excited at the beginning of this season, as despite some decent signings from RM, he was obviously tactically inept, and it was inevitable that his derogatory comments aimed at our players would become tiresome, and start to annoy players rather than give them a kick up the arse.

Roll on next season.
