Been hammering this today. A bit of a bummer that there's so few game modes but I like the choice of maps and if you regularly switch between characters it keeps it fresh. I'm slowly finding my favourites too and mainly playing as Lucio when attacking and Widowmaker when defending, I will occasionally suit up as Reinhart for the good of the team and also switch to Junkrat if the other team are using lots of big guys.

Wish I was better with Winston and Hanzo as they're the coolest looking. Winston in particular seems utterly useless.

I fucking love this game.

I can't settle on any one character.

I feel like I'm at my best with Lucio, pretty sure my team hasn't lost a game when I'm playing as him. Doing well with Roadhog as well. Pharah, Junkrat, and McCree are the others I play as... I also play as Hanzo a bit, but I seem to do a bit shit with him most of the time.

Love the diversity of the characters, though. Brilliant stuff.

Been playing a lot of this since open beta/release. Overall a really good game. Server tick rate desperately needs improved and a few characters need balanced but it's great fun. Ranked/competitive mode coming this month on PC.

Winston in particular seems utterly useless.

He's really good at jumping on squishy heroes and killing them in seconds, double Winston has been used a lot in tournament play. Widowmaker's in particular can't do shit if a Winston jumps them unseen, same with Mercy. Also good for fast pushing points if the enemy are pushed too far up and useful for dropping a shield on the payload when Reinhardt's goes down. And his ult is great for pushing entire teams back while your team caps/pushes the payload. One of my favourite heroes atm.

The only heroes I see as a bit pointless right now from a "trying to win" standpoint are Hanzo (cause why wouldn't you go Widow instead?), Zenyatta (cause 1 body shot from a Widow ends him) and D.Va (cause really low damage output and a huge crit box). Expecting a Mcree nerf very soon, he's ridiculously good right now, to the point where his best counter is himself. Blizzard have already said they're looking at nerfing Widow, buffing D.Va and will be balancing console and PC separately, which is all good stuff. Got high hopes for OW.

Not been on this in a few weeks but went on and it now seems to be full of absolute dickheads and every match you're guaranteed to have a couple of Hanzos on your team - which essentially just makes the whole game redundant.

The worst one for that shit is when you get a troll Mei. Ice walls everywhere. Bitch.

She can be such a great addition to a team when used properly, but in a proper trolls hands she's an absolute nightmare. Hell, she's a nightmare in a bad players hands, even if they mean well... so many damned ice walls in the way. And likewise, I've been saved by Meis on the other team putting up ice walls just in time for me to get away.

Anyway, I played Zenyatta the other day and decided that he was absolute shite. Then I played as him again on a good team, and decided that he's pretty much the best hero on the game if you want to win. Can absolutely transform a game.

then you'll be pleased to know zen has an extra 50 shields in the upcoming patch + his orbs move 4 times faster. i think he's the worst hero in the game right now. lots of changes coming with the next patch, including a new support character with a sniper. she's playable on public test realm atm but servers are america only so fuck that 200 ping life. looks fun to play anyway.

Yeah, I had a look at the incoming changes last night. Was very pleased to see that Zenyatta was getting an extra 50 shields, the worst thing about him by a mile was how damned quickly you can die when playing as him.

Some much needed changes coming to competitive too. Stuff like limiting it to one of each hero per team. But I actually think competitive is a mess right now. Get fuck all for winning and lose a lot for losing, for starters... I've got about a 50% win ratio on competitive, yet I've dropped from an initial rank of 57 to 43, which is bonkers. They've already acknowledged that their system is flawed though... as it stands you gain more/lose less for playing as the high damage fucks that every prick chooses when they just want personal glory and you gain nothing/lose a lot for playing as the characters that don't really get personal glory but help the team a lot, like support characters.
The other big flaw is the deal with players leaving games... they don't allow the spots to get refilled, which means that you're a man down the whole way... and every time I've seen a player leave a game, it's resulted in the match becoming far too easy for the team with 6 players. And the worst part is, about one in every 2 or 3 games ends with one team a man or two down.

This absolutely needs to happen. Aside from a role playing aspect whereby a person has somehow been fucking cloned a few times, it makes for some pretty absurd games. Now admittedly I've only played this game for an hour or two and as such I'm terrible at it, but I just played a game where the defending team picked I think it was 4 Bastions each covering a choke point entrance to the place we needed to attack. It was pretty silly. I'm sure there was probably a way around it with a certain team combination, but at entry level wood league playing with randoms.... aint gonna happen

Yeah, it's awful both ways. I will admit to partaking in some "team Tornbjorn" games on defence with the entire team playing as him and we absolutely breeze our way to an easy victory... but it's happened to me to and it's damn hard to get around. The worst I can remember was when the entire other team picked Symettra... little fucking turrets everywhere, and about 30 of them in the capture point it seemed.

And I also hate it when stuff happened like earlier today... my team is on attack, three of my team mates picked Junkrat, another picked Bastion. We never stood a chance.

Yeah comp is broken atm, they've acknowledged that though which is good. My 3 queue actually managed to win a game of KOTH after going down to 5 players. We won the first 2 maps with ease then we had the leaver and lost the next 2, managed to win the last map somehow... and got like 10% of a rank for winning with 5. I've also lost with 5 and lost almost a full rank. It's fucked. Surely winning with 5 players vs 6 should give you more points rather than punishing you for beating the odds. I've only had a leaver 3 or 4 times in ~100 games though, which isn't too bad compared to other peoples experiences. Would like to see them go the CS:GO route and issue incremental bans for leavers. 30 mins, 2 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours for example. I know they don't want to punish people who lose internet connection but they have to change something to deter the angry children from rage quitting. I'm all for the hero limit too.

Been playing a bit of that Zarya lass. Think she's my favourite of the tanks, either her or Roadfatty.

From what little I've played, Roadhog is one of my favourites. There's something very satisfying about Pudge-ing someone to you and one shotting them

I feel like they're struggling to balance the game, though they may just be playing the "ever changing meta" game rather than looking to find a place where they feel everything is perfectly balanced. McCree was clearly the best hero in pretty much all situations at release, other than a god-tier Widowmaker, so they nerfed McCree/Widow in to the ground, which meant Pharah became fairly dominant in certain situations but was still hard countered by Soldier. Now they've buffed McCree to a similarly ridiculous level to his game release state (minus the tank melting fan the hammer), to the point where Pharah is almost a troll pick again and Soldier is pointless due to the McCree buff/Soldier nerf... McCree is just better atm. I played a shit load of McCree pre and post nerf and despite him being one of my favourite heroes, even I would admit it was a bad idea to buff him that much. He was still extremely viable post nerf to people who consistently hit left clicks.

Still, the most recent patch has improved the game overall imo. There are a lot more fast paced team fights going on and most heroes feel a lot more viable. D.Va now has a reason to exist and Zen is finally awesome, arguably too strong. I'm having fun with it, mainly playing DPS heroes and a bit of Roadhog/Zarya. Starting to get decent with Tracer too.
