Owens called up to main roster

Felt this deserved it's own thread, if nothing else than for the speed it occurred. Kevin Owens is now a permanent part of the main roster, and has signed a new contract. If you consider how long Balor, Zayn and Itami have remained in NXT, it's shows how hot HHH is on Owens. Plus hopefully indicated big plans that see him straight into the main event picture

I'm not one to fantasy book. But surely the way you book this is to have Owens dismantle Cena with power bombs (with a no finish if you need to protect him) and then just tear through the Roster, including Rollins (they same way he took Zayn apart in Nxt)

Have it so that the Authority is forced to reinstate Lesnar as the only way to stop him. Heyman vs Owens on the mic, Owens vs Lesnar in the ring. You make Owens instantly, have an incredible programme and set up for the eventual Zayn call up.

Him winning would be superb, I think he's ready to be a big time heel already. However, a newcomer beating Cena...can't see it.

Maybe he loses by DQ or something, not sure, just don't really want to see him pinned by Cena.

I think a no finish is the only way to go. Pop up powerbomb onto the apron.

If Owens hadn't been called up and this was a one off thing (like zayn) then I see Cena going over. However with Owens now on the main roster (and the title not in the line)I can't see even the wwe creative team being stupid enough for Owens to be pinned.

That said - they are stupid enough. It just ruins the dream lesnar match. Or any match. Just look at steen in ROH. Tearing through rosters is what he's made for. Being stopped by the underdog zayn is gold.

Summer of punk 2.0 worked before HHH inserted himself and Nash. Why not rip this story off too?

I'm not a huge fan, but he was clearly ready for the main roster as soon as they signed him. A lot of the other top guys in NXT probably do/did need to be there. Kenta, for example, needs time to settle into a new country, learn the North American style, improve his English, etc. Zayn needed time to develop his character and improve his mic skills. But Owens was pretty much ready to go. For him the next step is seeing whether he can perform consistently in front of large live audiences and (much more significantly for him, I think) managing the demands and pressures of working that gruelling WWE road schedule. And the plain truth is he's not going to learn that down in NXT. He's only going to learn it (sink or swim style) on the main roster. So that's where he should be.

Really interesting development, though. I had assumed he would beat the piss out of Cena on Sunday but lose via DQ. He'd then go back to NTX for a while, so you'd have this situation where Cena has had his ass handed to him by a 'rookie' but isn't able to get immediate revenge. The rematch would come much, much later. But yeah… if they're moving him up now, it begs the question of how they're going to write him out of NXT. Some kind of angle in which he's effectively thrown out of developmental for being too violent and dangerous, perhaps? Pretty intriguing, especially given Joe's recent debut.

That'd be fucking amazing. I can already see Lesnar/Owens at WM32. I reckon Lesnar will come back as a face anyway... he'll come back and go straight after Rollins and the title. He could totally work as a face... he was over as fuck on the Raw after WM. Keep him as a face, Owens as the heel... great match set up for WM32.
