So, on a serious note, are Swindon actually any good this season?

Compared to last season, yes - but that wouldn't be difficult tbh.

I think we have only 1 loss in last 10 league games. All kidding aside, it should be close.

Hope it isn't a draw

Not too shabby. A lot less naive defensively than previously. Midfield very good with Doughty, Kasim, Murray, Thomas, Goddard (and Anton Rodgers) providing options. Upfront providing the biggest headache with our biggest threat (Obika) always likely to get injured, and has been since the opening day - jury still out on whether the other forwards will contribute enough goals.

We're currently a top half side with the potential to have a cheeky look at the play offs in my opinion.

Are you likely to go 4-4-2? Would fancy Doughty and Goddard to exploit the space in between defence and midfield if you do.

Before our last wave of signings, I'd have thought that was pretty likely.

Now with a wide player who can actually run, and Ledson as an additional central midfielder, I think we could be thinking about a 4-3-3. I'd be surprised if we didn't go for something like this around the turn of the year when Robbie Hall comes back, for certain.

Formations are bollocks anyway.

I'm Eric's vintage - but without the obsession!

I'm obviously a few years behind you two.

My first game at Oxford was in 1980, and have been half a dozen times.
Have to say in all my visits I don't recall getting any trouble from the locals.

That was after segregation came in and the away fans were put in the Cuckoo Lane End. Strange thing with Swindon was, we used to scour the city for you before the game, but never saw a soul until we got to the ground, and there you'd all be in the away terrace as if transported there by magic. We used to joke that there must be a secret tunnel that led from Swindon straight to the Cuckoo Lane! One year a group of us pretended to be Swindon fans and got in the Cuckoo Lane five or ten minutes after kick off. We stood in the middle of you and up went the chant of Oxford Oxford, and you've never seen 1,000 people scatter so quickly! We really had the Indian sign over you. And all that happened to us was that we were marched back to the London Rd to a hero's welcome. Was late seventies, a different world to today.

In the earlier part of the seventies, when it was every man for himself, I'm afraid to say you were a massive let down and never showed in Oxford. We were always in your town in numbers and took the Town End twice, although we usually lost the bit on the field, while winning the bit off of it.

Oxford have always had this kind of support, and still do, and on Saturday you will see 16 to 60 year olds clad in designer clothing, frothing at the mouth with hatred toward you.

Enjoy...............

You should be safe, you're on the window lickers coach with your Mrs. It's the little Blackbird Leys scallies, who don't even go to the game that you'll have to watch out for, they don't care about that sort of thing.

Chavs then. The type who see one of their mates get chinned and run a mile. We have plenty of those in Swindon.

Not exactly. These roam around with pit bulls, or staffies, and will use whatever comes to hand. More likely to see their mate get chinned and twenty of them then stomp all over one person as retaliation. Not to be taken lightly.

Fuck me you'd think we're playing at Rorke's Drift the way you're talking.

Does Swindon have the equivalent of the Victoria Cross?

Even Android predictive text hates Swindon as it initially changed 'Swindon' to 'swindle'.

'We took the town end'
'You never showed in Oxford'
'We stood in the middle and up went Oxford Oxford'

I honestly thought I was reading a post from a 14 year old until you mentioned you were about in the 70's which makes its even more laughable.

What a prat. Grow up.

'16 - 60 year olds clad in designer clothing' - saying it like you're really proud of it and it's an amazing thing. HAHAHAHA

Given the drivel on this page I'm not even going to begin to imagine what marvellousness lies on pages 1-3.

Today is going to be very tough. We've lost the last 5 games to them and they are going to be up for it big style. Not sure our slow possession football works in Derby games so we are going to have to show a bit more tempo and desire.

If we turn up we might get a draw but I reckon we'll be like rabbits in the headlights and lose 2-0. Nathan Thompson probably seeing red. Clearly I hope I'm wrong.

COYR!

And more likely got their threads from Finmere Market rather than Bicester Village

SIX IN A ROW!!
You can't even score against us nowadays, the second sending off was highly amusing as well as the JOKE of a club you are.

You came and created very little, and didn't even look up for it.

We got lucky by the looks of it for the penalty, but they either go for you or they don't. So when they come you have to take them, and Chris Maguire was ice cold. It's a killer to score right on half time but we deserved it. The second was a solid finish, and he could of got a Hat trick if Marvin Johnson had give him the ball.

Anyway off to celebrate more success against the SCUM! haha

That game was all about who kept their heads. The ref was terrible. We however kept our heads and players on the pitch.

That said, we played the better football and scummers just didn't gel!

Same predictable shit from the past 3 seasons. Big game arrives, team doesn't turn up. Not sure why we thought we'd have the time to fuck around with the ball in our own final third in this type of match. No plan B when it doesn't work.

Shame because we had two clear chances when we actually attacked with any purpose.
