We played well from the off and scored in that spell of pressure which was nice. Chris Maguire, Robbie Hall, Macca and Kane Hemmings were superb in the 1st half.

Were they the regular defenders and midfielders for Coventry as they weren't great? Burge made 2 fantastic saves (and other good ones as well), one from Chey Dunkley and a point blank save from Kane Hemmings after a lovely move. Don't think the keeper can be faulted for any of the goals either. The Coventry forwards were nondescript but then they had little service due to our central midfield 2 being dominate over their 3.

Our penalty shouldn't have been given as the defender won the ball but theirs was. That said we could have been 4 or 5 up at that point.

The Army bomb detection dog, an Alsatian called Caesar I think, at half time was very entertaining during his demonstration. The handler lost control as the dog was more interested in the balls that the subs were kicking around. So we had 7/8 mins of an Alsatian chasing footballs all over the pitch with some very nervous subs. :)

Easily the highlight of a cracking day.

I agree with your take, including both penalties. We are long overdue a bit of luck in these decisions though so I won't feel too bad.

In the first 45 we learned what we could do with a bit of pace and short, forward passes along the ground. We slowed down a bit in the second half but I'll be optimistic and hope that we were saving ourselves for Tuesday night.

Very enjoyable, good crowd from Coventry but their team was a far cry from the resurgent side that took us apart at times earlier this season. Hope they stay up as long as it's not at our expense.

It was nice to get some luck with the penalty.

Also good to know Joe Skarz is ok and it is was only concussion. It sounds unfortunate for Wes Thomas but I'm not sure how much of a loss he is based on his performances so far.

The first 45 was about as bad as it gets, we were utterly dreadful. And yes, it was our first choice defence. Mowbray and Venus' recruitment in the summer has completely fucked us.
