Everything was nice on this forum between us and the Poolies until reinforcements started arriving.

This is why I've never gone on our forum to put out a 'hey everyone join this' thread.

The poolies on this forum remind of the TV series The Walking Dead. They just keep coming, they cause chaos but don't say much, well not in English anyway.

Good... well if you're interested in knowing... this whole thing kicked off when HG called Glass a c**t... purely in jest, as we have a thread devoted to the messiah Rakish Bingham (you may have noticed that so many of us have Rakish avatars, he came not just to save Hartlepool, but to save the whole of football), and Glass discussed Billy Paynter, who isn't fit to lick Rakish' boots. Glass took exception, not with the sentiment which was not malicious at all, just with the naughty word on a forum that the bairns* might read.

Then it all got a bit out of hand, some of the Poolies got things twisted around and thought that we'd stooped to making base insults towards them... for some reason this idea that we think we're a big club came up but I can't find where it came from. Someone accused us of having spent so long in the Conference they'd lost track of how long we'd spent there and we corrected them, think that was it. Seston called for reinforcements, and well, here you are. Welcome to you, just try and keep your banter strictly hilarious and you'll fit in well.

*yes I threw that in to humour you.

That's right blame me! Many moons ago I simply said we had signed someone and I was happy , people came from far and wide to rain on my parade and before we know it I'm being jokingly called a #$$# ... I can see how Mr HG thought he was non malicious , I was merely exercising my right as a 50 year old gadgie who's been around a block or two to feign shock at a naughty word !! ..... Rakish will always be compared to lesser mortals so every now and then another name might crop up...Mesi, Pele, Muller, Paynter, all acceptable to be said in the same breath , but not jabo whatshisname... no way San Jose

I accept your right to dislike that word... it's just that after you said you'd been called a c**t, I think some of the others assumed things had turned nastier than they really had.

Depends on the context.

Anyway I've apologised to glass. He's a glass half full kinda guy so I expect him to be cheerful and move on. I hope.

Onwards and upwards ..... I'm still waiting for your doom and gloom Carlisle predictions ... you got upset after a victory last year , this season no wins and yet your feeling chipper

Remember if I'm too negative I get banned from the forum.

I can't get upset and go into too much of a rant about my team so instead I have to take my frustration out policing that bloody Bingham thread you started :bang:;)

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Is there any football talk in the past 4 pages of this football match thread to look up

In terms of rivalry i don't think either consider this a rivalry, I think 10 years ago, Darlington was pools main rival and Darlington was our main rival and was the side both would take most away fans to. Alas for both of us they have died and re-building so neither of us have anyone really at present and this just fills a gap.

although i do hope if us and morecambe hang about same level we could sort a rivalry, but i think its not much happening, but we do have the online Barnet Rivalry soon should spur a load of clap-trap.

as for this game, hmmm totally unsure, i think Hartlepool are not as good as their 3 wins made them out, they got a perfect run of fixtures, but a good confidence start must help them alot, and really Carlisle at home considering we're one of the dreggy poor sides is not a tough prospect for them either.

On flip side we can go to pools remembering a strong win last season and a solid performance at last game and be confident that we can score since we put alot of goals past them last season and know they are like us re-building still.

probably points for me to a pool win or a draw, but we must be due being infront sometime this season.

Mr Dave, everyone put a lot of goals past us last season. I lost count of the times we got 3'd, 4'd and 5'd. Port Vale pasted 6 past us.

Surprisingly this was spotted and recruiting decent defenders was a priority once Rakish signed and the strike force would look after itself. We dropped two to set pieces last Saturday and you can bet that set pieces will be the drill all week.

Why is there a rivalry between Carlisle and Darlo?

Just across route 66 to the M6 I'd guess ,
Plus I do seem to remember them getting paired together a lot around Christmas and Easter

I never considered Darlo and Carlisle as rivals. Darlo are exclusively Pools's best mates. Not really sure about Carlisle, but I would say their fans hate Barrow and Berwick Rangers more than Darlo.

Never used to pay much attention to Barrow... but then Darren Sheridan became their manager and they became generally hilarious. It peaked around the time that Sheridan dropped the f-bomb live on air on Radio Cumbria. Then they got their act together but look like becoming potentially hilarious again.
