Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Averages a trophy every 22 games, or something.....

But it's not going to be easy. Just as I said in the Klopp thread, I hope he's ready for far stronger opposition than he's used to, and no cozy winter breaks.

The tears of Stevencc, Christian Slater and Scruff are absolutely delicious. As salty as I'd hoped.

As I've read thousands of times from United fans, he'd obviously rather go to trafford instead but the club never made him an offer. How very fortunate for us :)

City fans get spoiled again but they don't appreciate it. Will be interesting to see how it goes with Pep in the short term and who he brings in. Glad at least he chose them over the scum and Chelski. ;)

Maybe some don't, but I super appreciate it :D

I guess that means we are the biggest club in Manchester now. Lovely.

United weren't a likely destination. Despite money of almost Cityesque dimensions being available (as shown by their spend over the last 24 months alone), this season shows a lot of work is still required and he clearly doesn't want to transition a team. City is the easy choice, a very good starting point and an almost unlimited budget to add what he wants.

Oh come on now, don't be a bitter United cliche.

I'd have liked him at United for sure but we weren't the only alternative to City.

He's undoubtedly gone for the easy option again.

If anything United aren't the real alternative to City anyway because we can piss money up the wall along with City.

You've developed a rather unhealthy obsession for mentioning me in your posts lately, I hope this is just a phase related to Silkyman's comments rather than something you plan to be doing regularly!

To touch on previous conversations, though, how do you think Pep will react to a half-empty Etihad on matchdays or do you think you'll actually start to fill the stadium now you've got a "box-office" manager to go with the star-filled squad?

I think the dozens of people in the stands will be very excited to see him. I don't think our unique atmosphere will cause Pep any problems :)

Hello who's this? What brings you back Pags?

Oh hang on Liverpool lost 1-0 to Stoke at Anfield and thus made a cup final last week didn't they. Say no more.

How much work do we think he will have to do to make the squad Guardiola-compatible?

The attack is already up to scratch I'd have thought - Aguero, Silva and De Bruyne are all well suited to his style of football and I don't think Sterling would have too much trouble fitting in. The defence will need some work done to it, though. The midfield too.

Javier Mascherano is getting on a bit and probably not quite at his peak any more, I'm sure for the right price Barca would sell, and he'd do City the world of good sitting in front of that defence.

Interesting this in terms of where it leaves Pellegrini.

I imagine this puts Gary Neville under a lot of pressure at Valencia as I could conceivably see him going there. I also could see him taking the Chile job if Chelsea hire Sampaoli.

Or........do Manchester United do the unthinkable and hire him?? Whilst I don't think he's the best manager in the world, he's certainly better than a lot out there and knows the league well now.

You could. You make a shitload of stuff up.

Will be interesting to see how Guardiola does. Don't think it's a nailed on success necessarily, but they couldn't have gone for a better candidate.

That City squad is shite, he's not a miracle worker. They'll be spending some huge money this summer if they want to put a side out that can play like a Pep side.

City will win the title because they will spend the money that is required to do so. Pep will attract the best players and they have the money to get whoever they want. They already have the best squad in the league.

I wonder how he'll cope in a league that isn't dominated by 2 teams. Every game is tough. Great to see him in the league.

My prediction is he'll acclimatise in the first year, win big in the second...and in the 3rd year he'll announce he's joining Juventus mid-season.

Arsenal have the best squad, City have the best player who is carrying them week after week.

I have no doubt City will have the best squad next season after more huge investment.
