To be fair it's not an unreasonable assumption looking at what City have spent in the last 5 years. There would have had to have been some sort of carrot.

Arsenal have the best squad, City have the best player who is carrying them week after week.

I have no doubt City will have the best squad next season after more huge investment.

Is that the guy who has been injured for almost half the season so far?

£150m doesn't strike me as that much for a club like City in the current economic climate.

In the summer City bought Sterling, De Bruyne and Otamendi for what £135mill? Why wouldn't you believe £150mill in the summer? Hardly unreasonable is it?

No, I think he's talking about Aguero.

Who has missed a significant chunk of the season through injury and subsequent recovery...

It's not totally unreasonable. It's still a figure pulled straight out of the arse of, who was it, Jamie Jackson, to try and show how in the know he is, though. £100m wouldn't be unreasonable. £200m wouldn't. We could all play this game.

It could be much higher, it might be much lower. Is that the now vitally important 'net spend'?

Has he really got the ear of the owner, or did he do what all sports journalists get paid a lot of money to do, and sneeze on some fuzzyfelt and see what number it most looked like. Sports journalists don't know a quarter of what they like people to think they know, is the general message I'm trying to get across in this portion of the seminar...

He's not played in 14 out of 36 in all competitions and missed 6 out of 23 league games, so not "almost half" as originally claimed. But I wonder, out of the games he made no appearance in, how many of them were due to him being unavailable because of injury or recovery as opposed to games he wouldn't have been selected for anyway because a full strength squad wasn't deemed necessary to get a result?

Ah. It was pedantry. I suspected as much. Right. One man team then, clearly.

That will be why you're behind Leicester City then won't it?

That, and Silva missing a chunk of the season at the same time, and Kompany being out for most of it.

But the point was that to be still competing on four fronts, when the only player apparently capable of carrying the club has missed a significant chunk of the campaign, (I'm sure you can work out an exact percentage yourself Paggers) is quite the achievement.

Pedantry? Not at all, I'm simply unsure how someone can define 6 games out of 23 or even 14 out of 36 in all competitions as being "almost half", even if we ignore my point above about him not playing in all games anyway. I mostly agree with your point. And even Destruction doesn't believe you're a one man team, it's purely to get a rise out of you.

City did a good business getting him, one of the best options of manager available. Of course, as pointed before, he will not have a "constellation" team as it was with Barcelona and Bayern but still a good squad with whose he can develop his work well and made them reach a new step. Pep is schematic and viewy that could be what City was missing. Not throwing in the garbage the possibility of him not doing well though, this is very different from all he had worked as a manager.

So it turns out Pep is going to be earning MORE THAN DOUBLE the wages of the current top earning Premier League manager.

No doubt that Maureen will usurp him in that regard to soothe his ego when he turns up like a wet dog at your place.

*if he turns up like a wet dog at our place.

Charlton seems to have a vendetta against Jose and Woodward is definitely romantically linked with Van Gaal.

What's your take on it, think he will or will they go in for someone else in the summer, or laughably give it to Giggs/Neville?

I'd much prefer Jose to some romantic ex-player appointment - Mourinho's a c*** but he's a c*** that is good at managing football teams (forget this season).

The club are trying to deny it now but it's clear that we at least tried to get Guardiola. This gives me hope in the sense that we are actually trying to get a top manager in rather than making a risky appointment like Giggs. We might end up with Jose by default.
