You genuinely think Coutinho is more deserving of a POTY nomination than Fabregas?

Nope, I think Fabregas should be up there too, but as I said latterly Coutinho has been at the better level whilst Flabbyarse has dipped off badly.

Even if Coutinho has been marginally better in the past few months (I don't necessarily agree), he's never come close to reaching the levels Fabregas demonstrated for the first half of this season. Cesc at 19 for Arsenal was performing better than Coutinho ever has in his professional career. They're not in the same discussion.

Who the hell cares if Cesc was better than Maradona ever was at 19, we are talking now Thespus, and Coutinho at times has done things Fabregas would have been proud of.

But he hasn't surpassed Cesc's output this season, which is the point.

Mesut Ozil has better statistics in 15 appearances this season.

Do you think Coutinho deserves to be one of the contenders for POTY?

This "Coutinho's only been good for 2 months" stuff is rubbish. 5 games max.

"I particularly want to thank my main man Jonny Evans for this one, without his total incompetence early on in the season I wouldn't have had to make half the saves I did - a true great".

There's a reason football clubs spend fortunes on advanced analytics, but what do they know?

Lol at "Coutinho at times has done things Cesc would be proud of" as any sort of bearing to Coutinho being near his level. So have Dijmi Traore and some guy in my Sunday league that scored a fluke bicycle kick two months ago.

I don't think anyone is saying Coutinho is a bad player...he's world class at times, we've only seen that a on a handful of occasions this season though.
world class at times? i scored a goal in the back garden in 1984 that you would not believe, think Justin Fashanu / Frank Worthington and times that by ten and your still not close, my brother would back me up on this......you heard it whistle through the air from streets away i was told by mates, it actually got stuck in next doors fence as it burst the net ....you cannot be world class at times your either world class or not and given that Cuntinho has never performed on the big stage he cannot be called world class.........hes the best Penaltypool have but never will be world class.

Harry Kane for me simple

Cesc would be lucky to be able to do some of the things Coutinho has shown as well - the young lad is already at the Spaniards level, and I confidently predict in the next year or two, he'll easily surpass Cesc as a player and become truly the leagues best player.

Another two goals for Sanchez this weekend, he's 3 away from 25 and not a single one of them has been a penalty. He also has 11 assists, what a season.

Terry and Matic should be on the list, but they're not forwards so don't get a mention.

Hazard should win easily.

Team of the season predictions/votes?

This would be my vote:

De Gea
Clyne - Terry - Alderweireld - Bertrand
Alexis - Fabregas - Cazorla - Hazard
Aguero - Kane

Subs - Courtois, Azpilicueta, Fonte, Matic, Henderson, Silva, and Costa.

Wanted to fit Jedinak in there, but I think Matic and Henderson may be slightly more deserving. Ditto for Schneiderlin. Impossible to pick between Aguero, Kane, and Costa. Rooney would warrant a mention if wasn't for those three. Giroud has been phenomenal since his return from injury, but missed too much time.

Hazard for Player of the Year, Kane for young.

Not been any real wow performers this year, Sanchez and Aguero looked like frontrunners before Christmas but seemed to tail off.

The same as your XI but Matic in for Cazorla and Costa in for Aguero.

Agree with that team....really can't split Costa Kane and Aguero. All 3 have score pretty much the same amount. I'd obviously pick Costa but there's an argument for all 3 to be in there.

Koscielny is vital to Arsenal, arguably our most important player, and he has performed well, but the defensive record of Southampton coupled with Koscielny missing a few games with injury makes it Alderweireld or Fonte to partner Terry. There isn't a defender in the league I'd do a straight swap of Koscielny for, though. Terry is probably better, but his age sways it. Zouma looks like he could emerge as the next best with the proper coaching. Doesn't seem that great on the ball given his occasional deployment in midfield, so he'll need to work on that.

Aguero unlucky to miss out in mine. Fonte over Alderweireld due to game time over the season, Alderweireld has missed quite a few due to injuries.

I'd have Kane and Aguero over Costa. Also no way Matic doesn't get in any team of the season.
