I only leave the UK to watch Wales games.

I don't want to turn into a travel wanker banging on about street food and krazy bus drivers, do I?

Considering there are 196 countries in the world, and probably more to come in future, I'd say you need to up the pace a little.

Aye, when I'm not a student and earning serious dollar the rate'll be upped!

New York is crap. I'm not sure why anyone would want to go there. Many better places to visit in the US.

Agree.

I always wanted to visit, maybe even a little obsessive when I was younger but when I arrived I realised I had just fallen for some American propaganda that it's the greatest city in the world.

I still had a great time there and glad I did the sites but won't rush back.

I am fascinated by the states for some reason, I have been to Houston and am desperate to go back to Texas and see some more of it.

Pretty fun place. At or around July 4th it is the busiest, probably because it is the best time to be there.

I'll probably end up going there on a Monday or something when theres less crowds than on a weekend. I'm staying in Toronto so that'll be good to have a wander around.

The town of Niagara Falls is a big old tacky tourist trap, the Falls are beautiful of course. Since you're on the Canadian side, I'd advise stopping at Niagara-on-the-Lake, a much prettier town.

I'll walk to the American side, still have US $80 from my last trip there to spend! Tempted to go into Buffalo one day too.

When are you going? Obviously I'd advise catching a Sabres hockey game in Buffalo if you do go, but the odds are you're not going during hockey season haha. Other than that, not much to do in Buffalo. I was only there this weekend!

This is the truth.

June 24th to July 1st. Managed to get flights and hotel for £550, can't complain at that price. I always go away when it's not NHL or NBA season, dammit.

Ah well, that is a good deal so I get it. Also, it was -22 while I was there this weekend so I don't blame anyone for avoiding a New York winter!

I don't know if you have any love of baseball, but you could catch a Blue Jays game in Toronto. They're hosting Cleveland at the tail end of your trip. TFC are away while you're there so no football, unless you fancied a jaunt up to Montreal.

Went to a Blue Jays @ Yankees game last September, almost fell asleep during it, left during the 7th innings, so I don't think I'll do baseball again! I'm waiting for the CFL schedule to come out to see if I can catch an Argonauts game.

WestJet are having a sale at the moment so was looking at Montreal/Ottawa or even Vancouver for a day trip.

Anyone ever been to an unrecognised state or a state with limited recognition?

I find them to be fascinating places and will be going to Northern Cyprus when I visit Cyprus in the summer. It's a country only recognised by Turkey.

I've stood on the border of the neutralised zone, overlooking famagusta. I want to do Kosovo in the next 12 months. Problem is I still have a bit more I want to do in Serbia, and I don't know whether they have got as relaxed about people having been to Kosovo as I've been reading. As of next week I'd have done Belgrade Derbies at both Partizan and Crvena Zvezda which was my main goal but living in Krakow from next January means I want to do a few more serbian cities.

Decided my top 5 targets are:
Moldova
Albania
Belarus
Bulgaria
Romania

I went to Cyprus a few years back with my dad when he was still in the forces. We'd lived there when I was a very young kid and so my dad knew everywhere pretty much. We went to some places that you wouldn't really be able to get to as a tourist as you could be stopped by the Cypriot army but show them the forces id and they'd let you through. We went down to this place right on the border and went into this abandoned village and were suddenly aware of being watched by a soldier on the Turkish side who was standing on a roof top. It was quite a surreal experience.

There is also a small zoo on the border where you can climb up and view Famagusta through a telescope which is something that should be seen if you're into that sort of stuff.

Getting into Northern Cyprus itself is pretty easy and there is a great market right near the border in Nicosia.

I really want to go to Chernobyl as there can't be many more fascinating places than that.

Since we're on the subject of New York not being all that, I can tell you that Montreal is rubbish. Have no idea why my countrymen get a hard on for this place.

Yeah my mates were actually discussing that the other day and we all agreed Quebec City was the better location on Quebec.
