Surely they would have been one at Portman Road had the 2nd leg been there and you had overcome Norwich?

Unlikely IMO, although that would be more understandable given the derby+playoff aspect, I hope there wouldn't be, though. It's cringey as fuck, nothing is won in a semi.

Cracking performance from Saarfend. coker and Timlin were outstanding as was Day in goal for Stevenage!

Seriously thank fuck for that thought we by far the better team Bentley didn't have a save to make.

Surely it's pretty standard to have a pitch invasion at the last home game of the season anyway? They haven't won anything yet, but you can't have a pitch invasion at Wembley anyway so I don't see anything wrong with it.

Mind you, I don't think we had a pitch invasion when we won in the play-off semis a couple of times in the Conference. We did have one when we lost in the play-off semis though...

I'm supporting Southend in this game but god aren't they diving bastards?! Going down so easily all over the pitch!

Wow. If that's true, the final will be the diving-est game in playoff history. We'll outdive you all yet.

How on earth were we 'dirty bastards' tonight? Were you even at the game or did you just sit at home and assume the stereotype was true...? Some of your players should be embarrassed with the diving and gamesmanship they showed tonight.

That being said... Southend the far better team over the two legs unfortunately, just didn't quite have the quality in the end.

Didn't you even have one when you lost 1-0 at home to York? Can't remember the specific incident but I'm sure something controversial happened....... ;-)

No problem with a pitch invasion, it's pretty standard with lower league clubs. We had one in all 3 of our Conference 2nd leg play off wins. Tractor Boy is wrong.

Well this result was predictable. As our fans chanted on the last day: "we'll see you all next year".

Think that's called reaping what you sow. How any Stevenage fan can complain about gamesmanship is beyond me.

For what its worth, the Southend penalty looked like a shocking decision to me - he threw himself to the floor. Considering some of the penalties we've had turned down this season...

Such as picking the ball up on our throw-in, running away with it and lobbing it into the crowd. Or staging injury time-outs. Leonard does dive and Corr was trying too hard to get given free-kicks that weren't there, I'll concede those.

Anyway, that was a great night. Corr thinking he was Messi and Pirlo at separate intervals, and realising he is neither, is funny now looking back. Incredibly frustrating at the time! Hope he scores the winner next week.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Right team went through in end, it did show watching them games a massive gulf in class between the top 5 and the rest of the league. I watched Southend and Wycombe and thought we are a long way behind them but I watched Plymouth and Stevenage and thought we have not a lot to do to be up there.

right 2 teams in final, Plymouth and Stevenage were no where near good enough by a long long way.

I'm loath to back up a binner but his reasoning for you being wrong is flawed. It's not tinpot because tinpot clubs do it all the time... wut?

Personally don't understand why you'd want to pitch invade before you've actually won anything but it seems earning a trip to Wembley is considered enough of an achievement to do it (not just for lower league clubs, look at Aston Villa fans' pitch invasion after winning a quarter-final!)

Pleased Southend have made it to the final, never been a fan of Westley and his teams. Watching his Preston team dive and spoil at Hillsborough a few years ago was awful, think Southend deserved it over the 2 legs in the end but could have made it easier for themselves. Be interesting to see how Stevenage recover from this next season.

Southend were the better team over both legs and were comfortably better than us last night unfortunately. Have to admit I'd hoped the missed penalty might have swung the momentum in our favour for extra time but there was only going to be one winner as it was pretty much one way traffic.

Chris Day was fantastic, would have been a lot worse without him, also thought Charlie Lee did well baring in mind he was playing at centre back, was a bit of loss in the attacking third though.

As for next season, really don't know how it'll pan out - from what I've heard Westley won't be in charge, out of contract and is seemingly going to be allowed to leave. Apparently he's already looking for work and is in the running for the Peterborough job. If Westley were to stay and we were to add to the squad wisely over the summer we'd have another crack at promotion, of that I'm sure, without him anything could happen!

It's not tinpot because non-tinpot clubs do it. ;-)

If you've had a cracking win (which invariably the play off second leg requires), it's understandable the excitement boils over sometimes. Don't see what's wrong with that at all.

I'll be at Carrow Road tomorrow and I think Norwich should go for it uf they happen to win.

Not going to lie, some of our players dived on a few occasions. Didn't like it. Didn't think it was a penalty either.

But please, spare me the violin. Stevenage were time-wasting from the start. Your players were probably the most physical I've seen constantly holding.

If you're going to play like that then expect teams to give some back.
