Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Hopefully Bristol R or Grimsby.

The other 2 add absolutely nothing for me to L2, they will bring no fans and because both are vastly over-spending they will help again inflate wages in the division.

Although an FGR/Eastleigh final would be hilarious for the attendance, I hope Bristol Rovers win it. I'd rather Grimsby stay down as I still haven't been to Blundell Park yet.

I hope it's us V Rovers in the final, I couldn't stomach losing at Wembley to bloody Forest Green.

Don't buy this "oh, they've done their sentence" for Grimsby either. If they were good enough, they'd be out by now, they're nearly as incompetent as us in terms of the budget to performance ratio.

I'd love to see Richard Hill and Craig Stanley's face after getting beat at Wembley.

3rd seems to be the best position to finish going back over previous years with 5th by far and away the worst (don't think any team has been promoted from that position).

I would have ruled Bristol Rovers out having suffered the blow of losing out on automatic promotion on the last day, but to hit 7 showed real character.

Grimsby looked the best unit to have played us, but the Gateshead and Wrexham results aren't encouraging.

Would probably go Bristol Rovers/Grimsby final.

We've had a play off budget for the past 4-5 seasons and made the play offs 3 times. This thread is for play off participants, come back when your side finally make the top half at least.

I am torn. I would love to see Rovers go up after yesterday. They fully deserve it. They dont derseve to be where they are. The fans deserve to celebrate some success afetr so many poor seasons in recent times.
But by the token there is no doubt "Grimsby have served their time and deserve to be back in the football league.

Anyone accept FGR or Eastleigh.

Agreed. Relegation isn't a 'sentence', it's because you're not nearly good enough and deserve to be in a lower league.

Fancy Bristol Rovers from the play offs, I don't think they'll suffer to much from not going up automatically.

Yesterday certainly helped - Dover game forgotten really and to put on a performance like we did only increases confidence and momentum. No dejection at all that we didn't win the title, just 11,000 cheering the team on at the final whistle for an excellent season. The players seemed in good spirits too, so I'm pretty confident that won't be a factor in these play-off games.

Strange how football works like that - if we'd have thrown away the title in the last two minutes yesterday, we would have been totally drained for the play-offs I imagine.

I wouldn't buy it either considering it's your turn after us but of course knowing even the top half would be a grand success.

Lol, all these attempts, oh dear. I know my team is shit, you're not telling me anything I already don't know children.

Point stands, if you're good enough you'll get out. Whether you will at Wembley against Rovers and their million fans is another question.

Agreed on this sentence stuff and we are down here for a reason and if we were good enough or are good enough will get promoted.

But I also agree with Lew (shocking!) that the budget stuff you mentioned was stupid. We have had a top 5 budget every season, never the highest so to achieve a top 5 position for the last 3 suggests we are doing something right, and not incompetent as you suggest. You of all people should know that the play-offs are a lottery and getting in them is only half the job.

Best of luck mate, hopefully justice will shine through and the two 'proper' clubs will come through their ties.
Define proper club? FGR and Eastleigh are both Football Clubs and have got where they are on merit so what makes them any less than yourselves and Grimsby?

They've got there because they have rich owners, despite poor crowds, Eastleigh a lot more than FGR mind.

Would you be just as happy to see Crawley lift the League One title next year as Sheffield United?

Yeah I would actually, Its great to see new teams reach heights of the Championship and the Prem otherwise Football would just be boring. Bournemouth reaching the Prem is nothing short of sensational and thats the same for FGR and Eastleigh reaching the FL.
Yes Grimsby and Bristol Rovers have a support the size of League 1 clubs but that doesnt define a right to win promotion. The reason Rovers are down there is because they have been ran like a Non League club for absolute years

Fair enough if that's your opinion. Very few people would argue that Gas/Grimsby don't deserve to be here, it's just that most people would rather see a team spending within their means go up than poorly supported teams speeding past honest clubs who have toiled hard on low budgets (and Rovers and Grimsby as well obviously).

Bournemouth making the Prem would be fantastic but it's clearly a very different situation.

Sadly I can't disagree with most of that post .

I completely agree. I'd like to see FGR go up as their (few) fans have been throgh a lot over the years, watching them struggling down the wrong end of the table for almost a decade. Rich owners or not, I'd like to see a team like that pushing for the football league, even if the bitter Grimsby and Gas fans think differently.

That aside, Bristol Rovers were incredibly unfortunate to go down in the first place and if they don't make it through these playoffs, I reckon they'll be too much for the other teams next season and will win the league.

I'm sure everyone will think differently when AFC Fylde get promoted to the Football League.

That's one non-league club I'd hate to see in the Football League, especially with the plethora of forgettable Lancashire clubs in the Football League at the moment. A massive vanity project driven by an absolute tit who was upset that the Oyston's wouldn't consider his offer to take over Blackpool seriously. We've already had one of them from West Lancashire in the Football League and we certainly don't need another!

I appreciate the new heights argument but what pisses me off about these cash-rich hobby clubs is how they piss League Two within two seasons to get promoted yet again and then they stagnate in League One whilst paying more than what half the League One clubs reasonably afford despite only getting crowds of 2000 like Crawley do now due to a lack of success leading to a loss of interest from gloryhunters on the promotion gravy train.

Someone who even Owen Oyston thinks is a huge bell end? That is a low blow.
