Neill Byrne
Marcus Carver
Nicky Featherstone
David Ferguson
Jamie Sterry

New contract

David Ferguson

Offers of re-engagement

Timi Odusina
Jordan Cook
Gary Liddle
Luke Molyneux
Mark Shelton

Released

Zaine Francis-Angol
Josh MacDonald
Olufela Olomola
Martin Smith

Offering new deals to Cook, Liddle and Shelton, very surprising.
I'd say Liddle is the only one who'll accept new terms. No idea why we're offering Cook a deal, weird. Shelton isn't good enough, Mols and Timi are obviously off.

Shame the club bombed out ZFA, more than capable backup. The others released are pants.

Loads of work to do to make this squad competitive.

I wonder if ZFA just wanted to leave under his own steam? The bloke has hardly been a starter for anyone since leaving Fylde in 2019, bit part player Accrington, Boreham Wood and us, good player but can't be happy not featuring that much.

I hope we're only gonna use Liddle sparingly next season, he's been fine at times this season but I think we need some legs in there, especially if Timi is off.

We’ve released our retained list.

Released
Danny Rose
Benny Ashley Seal
Michael Harriman
Joseph Mills
Scott Pollock
Sid Nelson
Josh Flanagan (youth)

Offered new contracts to Liam Roberts, Fraser Horsfall and Shaun McWilliams but I expect all 3 to leave, and our loanees have returned to their parent clubs.

Next Season
Jonny Maxted
Aaron McGowan
Jon Guthrie
Ali Koiki
Ryan Nolan
Max Dyche
Sam Hoskins
Paul Lewis
Mitch Pinnock
Louis Appere
Jack Sowerby
Nicke Kabamba
Liam Cross

For next season I think thats a pretty good spine of a team. Guthrie, Koiki, McGowan, Sowerby, Hoskins, Pinnock, Appere - probably 7 of our starting line up next year already. Now just to sign a good keeper, good cm, good centre half, attacking midfielder, striker. Easy.

Almost exactly what is expected, apart from maybe Maxted being kept, and wanting to stay after basically playing no football.

Pollock on his way to Grimsby I’m hearing.

He has struggled massively with injuries. but then even outside of that he has struggled with form. He has just announced his retirement. Seems like a good guy though, hopefully he enjoys retirement and finds a new career he can enjoy.

I was thinking the other way. We are lacking a spine in that team, but the complimentary pieces are there. Need a starting keeper, a CB, at least 2 CM's, and a striker. Then just fill out the back up spots, full back, wingers etc.

The foundation of the squad is definitely there though.

Second signing for Dale is Jordan Scanlon, signing his first professional contract. Right-sided midfielder, on the bench for a couple of games last season without getting on the pitch.

A list ... a flaming long list but a lot of the players retained will struggle to get near a league 2 team.

Zaid Al-Hussaini b team material
Ludwig Francillette
Owen Gallacher
Mustafa Hussein b team material
Florian Kastrati played last ten mins of last game
Kaan Kevser Junior b team material
Rafiq Khaleel b team material
Szymon Kowalczyk b team material
Aramide Oteh
Harry Ransom b team material
Davide Rodari b team really but has played a couple
Ronan Silva b team material
Nick Tsaroulla
Kwesi Appiah
Tony Craig
George Francomb
Jake Hessenthaler
Joel Lynch
Glenn Morris
Tom Nichols
Jack Payne
Jack Powell
James Tilley

The following players remain in contract talks with the club:

Alex Battle b team material
Emmanuel Adebowale b team material but maybe first team sub
Sam Matthews
Mark Marshall
Taylor Seymour back up keeper. Young but a good reputation
Ashley Nadesan
Jordan Tunnicliffe
Ali Gundogdu remains in talks after training with the first team last season. No idea who this is.

The following players have been released from the club:

Henry Burnett every time I saw him I thought he could be OK but too long here now
Archie Davies decent attacking full back. Needs defensive work
Tyler Frost decent winger, no 10. Not sure what's happened
Alfie Jones Young keeper, not league standard
Reece Grego-Cox Shame, but recovering from a ACL
Ricardo German Looked good, got fat.

We are rumoured to be starting a b team along the lines of Brentford. I presuming that's why these b teamers are still here.

Mills no good? Swindon lad. Played against him as a kid. Always thought he was decent for FGR. Sid Nelson was good for us on loan as well. One of the bravest defenders i've seen in a Swindon shirt.

Mills has just retired. Had some big injuries since he joined us. Not sure if Nelson even played a league fixture before he had a season ending injury sadly.

Bahamboula will no doubt get linked with multiple clubs but the problem with him is where you’d fit him into the team. Oldham seemingly didn’t play him a lot during the run-in as he was a bit of a luxury albeit with some occasional highlight reel stuff. That would leave clubs like us out on him as DC would not take kindly to that.

Aye he's probably a good player to have in a team doing well, maybe not so much in a sinking ship.

I can see Keillor-Dunn being a Jack Payne replacement if we can't afford to keep him. Our list should be announced today I would have thought.

Keillor Dunn rumoured to be Tranmere bound and piagianni also rumoured to have signed a pre contract offer elsewhere possible Mansfield so not surprised to see them on the released list Bahamboula is a luxury player needs to be in a side challenging at the top end of the league with players that will do the legwork for him as he no use in a dogfight. But also needs to be played on the right to get the best out of him

We haven't seen too much Jonny Maxted because Liam Roberts has had a great season but the games he has played he has done alright.
I know that he was part of the Exeter team that got to Wembley in the play-offs a couple of seasons ago, he's stil only 28, could he be our number one?

I liked Maxted. In that season it was a weird situation as we also had Lewis Ward and both players were given lengthy chances but neither could nail down the no.1 spot for a few reasons (mainly injuries).

I think he’d be a decent option if Roberts did move on.

Surely he can do better than that? I would have thought L1 sides would be courting him

Not sure I agree on that. Tranmere should be challenging top 7 again next season and it’d allow him to stick around in the North West if he wants. They’ve also got a decent enough budget so could pay him a decent amount too. Makes sense to me.

I’ve seen some Oldham fans say that he’s actually a real poor footballer but obviously the goals put him on people’s radar.

Retained list

PLAYERS UNDER CONTRACT FOR 2022-23:

Already contracted for the 2022-23 season are: Ricky Aguiar, George Cowmeadow, Ben Gladwin, Ellis Iandolo, Harry McKirdy, Harrison Minturn, Louis Reed, Lewis Ward, Jonny Williams.

The Club have also taken up the years contract option on: Mohammad Dabre.

PLAYERS OFFERED NEW CONTRACTS:

The Club have offered new contracts to Mathieu Baudry, Mandela Egbo, Harry Parsons, Akin Odimayo, Jack Payne and Jojo Wollacott, whilst the Club remain in talks with Rob Hunt.

PLAYERS NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACTS:

The Club have released: Dion Conroy, Ryan East, Emmanuel Idem, Jayden Mitchell-Lawson.

LOAN PLAYERS RETURNING TO PARENT CLUBS:

Whilst loan players Louie Barry, Brandon Cooper, Josh Davison, Jake O’Brien and Joe Tomlinson have all returned to their parent Clubs.

OTHERS:

Jordan Lyden remains within the fold as the Club continues to monitor the player's progress since being injured in February.

Really happy with that. Dion Conroy was club captain and apparently on a big wage so assume we thought it unrealistic to even try. Great news that Williams and Reed are under contract and we're attempting to keep Jack Payne and Manny Egbo. The wording about Hunt is interesting though.

No complaints from me.

Good chance to rebuild while still keeping some good players under contract. Payne (unlikely) and Egbo (50/50) signing deals would be triffic.

Here's Port Vales;-

Port Vale Football Club can now confirm our retained and released list following the conclusion of the 21/22 Sky Bet League Two season.

The following players remain in contract with the football club for the 2022/23 season: Lucas Covolan; Dan Jones; Brad Walker; Connor Hall; David Worrall; Ben Garrity; James Wilson; Tom Conlon; Alex Hurst; Chris Hussey; Aaron Martin; Jake Taylor; Harry Charsley; Sammy Robinson; and Tom Pett.

Following our success in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final, Port Vale are looking to re-engage James Gibbons, Mal Benning and Jamie Proctor – whose contracts will expire on June 30.
