There are a lot of players (certainly loans) who have gone on to bigger and better things from clubs down here.

Which players have you had in recent times (last 10 years) who have gone on to be successful?
Preferably those who have gone on to play top flight football.

A few from Coventry

Jordan Henderson had a very successful loan stint at Coventry a few years back. He played right midfield and was a class above.

Callum Wilson left us and helped Bournemouth of all teams to promotion to the Premier League. Apparently 10 Premier League clubs are after him.

Scott Dann was with us for a for a year or so before moving on to Birmingham in the Prem. He has just been voted Crystal Palace player of the season.

Players who should have done better...

Kieren Westwood moved to the Sunderland but failed to gain number one spot.. Has had a brilliant season at Wednesday and I wouldn't be too surprised if he plays in the top flight again one day.

Gael Bigirimana moved to Newcastle after being dubbed the next best thing. Had a solid first season playing in the Europa League and having a few spells in the first team. He went on loan to Rangers a few months back but is unable to play due to a mystery illness..

Yannick Bolasie is the one that stands out.

Was pretty average for us - and could barely get a start, but has been a revelation since he went to Palace.

Rumour has it that we have a 20% sell on fee on Bolasie, so if he does go for the crazy numbers that Pardew has been quoting, 40m etc - our budget for next season could be sorted just from the money we receive from that.

Remember him playing against us that year we went down. I doubt he will go for 40m, but I reckon a good 20m or so would be realistic.

He scored with his 1st touch in that vital relegation battle didn't he - his best moment in a City shirt.

Jack Cork was on loan here from Chelsea and was absolutely exceptional, he plays for Swansea now.

Hooper was brilliant here and bagged loads for Celtic, not doing too bad for Norwich now.

Probably loads more too.

Those figures for Bolasie are ridiculous, seems very over rated. 7 goals in 104 league apps for Palace, and 20 million realistic? Give over!

TBH he's only had one season, i suspect he'll do well next season.
Not if he keeps getting played out of position!

To be fair - much like Maynard, injuries have stopped Baldock from progressing this season, and he's been unable to settle into any consistency due to niggly injuries that he keeps seeming to pick up.

Jamie Vardy and Scott Hogan (when we were in the Northern Premier League, ie. the seventh tier of English football).
Lee Gregory (from the Northern Premier League Division 1 North to the Conference, ie. the eighth to the fifth tiers).
Grant Holt (about ten years ago when we were in the Conference, didn't do owt).
Shane Smeltz (on loan in 2006 I think, didn't do owt but went on to score for New Zealand against Italy in SA2010, one of NZ's best competitive results).
Even further back, Super Geoff Horsfield who took us out of the Conference and went on to keep WBA up several years later. I named my tortoise after him.

Another one is Rolando Aarons for us - signed from our academy for peanuts from Newcastle, comes on for his first appearance and bags a goal.

I'm sure he'll go onto big things.

Andros Townsend, Stephen Gleeson, Shaun Williams, Sam Baldock, Gary Mackenzie, Patrick Bamford, Benik Afobe, Lloyd Dyer, Stephen Quinn, Sheyi Ojo, Danny Collinge, Dele Alli, Brendan Galloway, Aaron Wilbraham, Jason Puncheon

All those have played for us and gone on to play in the top 2 divisions, albeit a few of them haven't stayed there but that's beside the point, these are only the ones off the top of my head aswell

Come on, surely we can't allow half of these. I've never even heard of most of 'em. (slight exaggeration)

If we're just reeling off players who've played in a higher league than league one, we'll be here forever.

It has to be 'stand out' players, surely?

David Nugent or Ricardo Fuller, as opposed to Matt Hill and Andy Lonergan, for example.

Craig Dawson (WBA), Glen Murray (Palace) and Rickie Lambert (Southampton/Liverpool) are currently in the Premier League.

Matt Gills (Blackpool/Burnley), Adam Le Fondre (Reading) and Grant Holt (Norwich) used to be.
