It's the typical way Luton fans react to things like this. Last season Jon Nurse broke Jon Smith's leg - completely terrible challenge but very accidental - Luton fans all ran to the end of the stand to throw coins and scream abuse at him as he walked off the pitch in tears apologising to them and the Luton players.

Horrible mentality.
not condoning our "fans" reactions, but don't be a hypocrite. You wouldn't feel any different if you witnessed first hand both occasions.
if you believe in divine intervention then that twat got what some of us felt he deserved...this is a democratic society after all.don't cast aspersions on all Luton followers though!!

We've had Saunders on the books for a number of years, and he definitely is not that kind of player. Injuries happen, don't wish ill on people just because they happen.

To be fair, I don't think Saunders is "that kind of player" in general, and I'd sign him in a shot in the unlikely event we could afford him permanently.

However, the tackle in question looked totally cynical, and to me it looked like he was intending to take the Luton player out, or had been told to do so. If it had been a defensive last ditch tackle you could understand it, but Lee was still in the Luton half at that point.

Football fans making sweeping generalisations shocker.

Half of your travelling support verbally and physically abused an apologetic, crying professional footballer. May be a generalisation, but it's hardly sweeping.

He had just broken one of our players legs in two.

I'm sorry but you are lying to yourself if you think you would have had any other reaction than extreme annoyance at the player after the challenge he put in, what are you expecting? Warm applause?

Just to be 100% clear for you, I'm not condoning coin throwing or violence toward the player, although I don't recall that happening and one wonders why not complaint made by Barnet fc at the time....

Annoyance? Yes. Calling for him to be sent off? Yes. Spending more time hoping our player isn't too badly hurt than wishing ills on the other player, especially on seeing how visibly shaken they are? Yes.

Watch the replay, you'll see all the fans rushing to that end of the terrace and pressing against the barriers to get at Nurse. Coin-throwing was mentioned by a number of people on Twitter who sit in the sits right next to the players tunnel.

Ah sweeping generalisations again!

No you wont see "all" the fans rushing over there you'll see "some" and it will be a minority. And you'll probably also see lots more people clapping Smith off as he was being carried off to the hospital after Nurse had gone off.

And as for "people on Twitter", well you've got us there clearly...

So you're denying that there wasn't a 'large minority' (putting that into terms you might somewhat agree with here) who ran over to abuse/throw coins at Nurse as he walked off the pitch? The replays can't disagree with you more :bl:

Sorry for not posting my view on the game earlier, it wasn't me being a bad loser as Southend scored 1 more penalty than we did so deserve to up rather than us. I've been spending time with the family of a friend of mine who died of cancer and they needed me so i had to be there for them, some things are more important than football. Even though we were so close to going up congratulations Southend and good luck next season.

FWIW Some Luton fans were thugs at ours. Tried to get through a security gate between the fans by chucking stones, metal things, coins and whatever else they could get their hands on. They also waited outside after the game at the West stand for the Southend fans to come out.

A small number but they were scum nonetheless.

Are you not capable of reading?

In fact I admitted that some Luton fans went over and abused Nurse, (the coin throwing is up for debate as nothing was said by Barnet Fc, no complaints made by them and no bans ensuing from the incident at the time and the fact that "people on Twitter" is not exactly a reliable source of information, so if you have the replay you keep goin on about and not posting, post it and get the offenders banned).

I'm just taking issue with your stance of tarring all Luton fans with the same brush, on the basis of a supremely small minority of fans that all clubs have a section of (like Barnet wouldn't have a section of supporters who wouldn't take a huge issue with a shocking challenge resulting in serious injury, come on)

If everyone did that we would all have the assumption that no Banet fan is capable of basic reading comprehension.

I don't wish to get into a pissing contest, but wasn't it a group of Southend supporters setting off smoke bombs inside the ground, causing a Luton fan to have an asthma attack?

The little group of Southend supporters in that corner were hardly angels.

Fully capable mate. Was just checking that you agreed with me that a 'large minority' (i.e. just under half your fans in that terrace) decided to abuse, verbally and physically, Nurse as he walked off.

Now that it's clear we're both agreeing with that point, we can move on :bye:

Well seeing as you have no evidence of this besides some people on Twitter, no I don't really agree that any "physical abuse" happened.

Yes definitely verbal like a large amount of fans would do in that situation, but a serious allegation like "physical abuse" until you prove otherwise no cant say I agree.

But once agin you have failed to comprehend that my point was not about that incident but your generalisation that it was typical of all Luton fans.

And apologies to everyone for completely derailing the thread.

Sure there'll be plenty more when I make my predictions of a Barnet relegation and MA to walk by October.

But yes, apologies for derailing this thread. Although enlightening Luton fans is as worthy a reason as you can get.

I can never be friends with someone displaying a picture of Steve McChunky! God, the thought itself is sickening.
