FFS I really did not want to be involved in this thread but hey ho. Can't say I'm looking forward to getting turned over by Stevenage on Sunday night nor am I looking forward to a dire 0-0 at Roots Hall on the following Thursday. We get ourselves in good positions and then bottle it I've said it on other threads but it just keeps happening so why will these fixtures be any different? Someone in our side needs to grow a pair of bollocks if someone can do that then who knows..
Jack Payne is a good little player who will probably do better the higher he plays but he can't play against Stevenage he is too small and will get bullied. If we are to have any chance Corr needs have 2 good games at being the shithouse he is and he will cause problems. I don't doubt that we are a better side than Stevenage and I don't think many would disagree with that but in the big games we always disappoint.
Everyone is writing off Wycombe it seems but I think now they have key players back I think they should be favourites, if they can get a draw at Plymouth I think they will have enough to finish the job at home. If we were to get to the final I'd rather face Plymouth than a injury/suspension free Wycombe.

First of all we are not favourites. Secondly we are much better away than at home so we'll need to win the away leg on saturday to give us any chance of reaching Wembley.

Corr is a dreadful player. He will probably score but he is still a big bag of shite. How he is in a promotion chasing team is beyond me.

I think you can throw away the form book going into the playoffs though you can't however insert bottle into the team

Plymouth for me.

Let's make this league even more South-eastern.

I hope it's a Wycombe/Southend final. I wouldn't mind either of them joining us.

Failing that anyone but Westley!!

Is 84 points a record for the League 2 playoffs?

I saw both home and away matches v the play-off teams this season.

My tip is Southend, even though they did not beat us at Shrewsbury I thought they were the best and most organised team we played over the 2 games. Once they got in front they were so well organised it is so difficult to break them down. We lost 1-0 at Southend and an undeserved late equaliser at home saved our blushes.

Plymouth I also saw over the 2 games and they did play well against us but there were uncharacteristic errors from a number of our players in our game on Saturday. In the game at Plymouth they held on against a lot of pressure in the 2nd half and in the home match looked quick and dangerous on the counter attack so even if they do not win in the home leg v Wycombe don't write them off.

Stevenage, looked very average in the game at their place and given the chances we had we should have won comfortably, as it was we lost 1-0 and an outstanding performance from Sam Beasant in goal and the the aid of the woodwork 3 times, hung on! In the return game at GM they were a totally improved team and played their part imo the best game at the GM this season and were unlucky to lose to a late winner!

Wycombe, in our home match a 0-0 they looked well organised but had little creativity and boy did they know how to waste time. we had 2 goals dubiously chalked off, the second where the linesman made an error when Mangan who was onside had his shot saved by the keeper but put the rebound in, the goal was flagged off because the linesman thought Collins who was offside had put the ball in.
In the game at Wycombe we were outplayed in the first half but I thought had the better second half but Wycombe were able to see the game out.

My tip would be a Southend v Plymouth final in front of over 60,000 and Southend to edge it!

As I said in the other thread, I really fancy Stevenage to go up now. Southend must be on a downer and they don't exactly have good form in the play-offs over the past few years, plus Stevenage strike me as the side that can grind out the results needed in pressure situations, especially against what will be a deflated Southend side. I think it might be two or three games too much for Wycombe, although from the sides I've seen this season that are in the POs, they're the ones I most want to go up. Plymouth seem to really on scoring the first goal too much, which in a play-off situation doesn't really bode well for me, unless they score the first goal three times of course

I read on Sunday in that 19 of the last 20 years 84 points would have been enough to see you up automatically...the only other club that didn't go up with such a high total was........Southend. You couldn't script it, poor blokes. Think that's the case anyway, sure Shimpurh can verify :smug:

I can verify that horrible statistic.

Was the year we missed out to Crawley getting promoted after the Aldershot game, which we were winning, was abandoned in the second half. Bastards.

I don't have much confidence in us winning it. After the Morecambe game the players looked completely dead on their feet and just completely broken. I would love to get to Wembley at least. I think if we went there is a possibility of 25,000+ Southend fans going. We took 30,000+ last time. So why not?

Think though that it will be a Stevenage - Plymouth final.

Feeling fairly confident going into them, we're starting to get key players back who have been injured for a month or two now (Ronnie Henry in particular).

Have a feeling we'll sneak the game on Sunday, but on the evidence of our season so far that may not be the best scenario for us, going into the away-leg with an advantage to defend will inevitably lead to us defending deeper and deeper like in so many away games this season and probably capitulating... But who knows, the form book is thrown out the window when it comes to the play-offs.

Promotion for this current group of Stevenage players would probably be a year too early, they need another summer suckling at our Graham's wholesome teet before truly being ready.

I fancy Plymouth for the play-offs, have no idea why, just a gut feeling.

I think it's really anyone's to take.

I just hope it isn't a Stevenage/Wycombe final as I hear Sky are going to fine teams in the final for timewasting resulting in over 5 mins extra time, the advertising breaks can't accommodate it.

You can't blame teams for time wasting in a play off final to be fair.

In a league match on a Tuesday night in November maybe, but it is understandable at Wembley

Plymouth or Southend to go up please. Dont want Westley to get another promotion and Wycombes antics dont really riled me in both games. Probably be a Stevenage - Wycombe final now!

Plymouth please. Wycombe I want to stay down after their diving against us in the cup, Stevenage because Westley is a prick who deserves every disappointment in his career, and Southend because it's a nice away day.s

Never had Wycombe down as cheats and timewasters? I do want them to come up actually, nice well run friendly club. I wanted them or Plymouth, seeing as they're playing each other at least one will reach the final.

Yeah I have a lot of time for Wycombe fans, its a shame Ainsworth has basically instilled a Westley-esque ethos about the place and taught them the art of daylight thuggery.

They weren't like that last season though and almost got relegated, suppose he had to change their mentality somehow, but not to cheat surely?

Why are some of the playoff games being played on the same day and same time as each other? They don't usually do this do they? I remember watching them all last season.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
probably because we all want to watch Chelsea, arsenal, Man Utd and Man city in their games with lots to play for.

plus of course the excitement of the champions league

There's only 2 UCL semi final matches on sky and that's the same every year.

There's plenty of time in the schedule to fit it all in. Fuck the premier league, it's shit.

Ahem I think you will find that the top half of the premier league is the only important thing in football. Basically the football pyramid ends wherever Stoke are in the table.

I naturally get all my information and views from Sky Sports and The Sun.

I'd say Plymouth but I want Southend to rekindle their friendship with Colchester next season.
