Carlisle make the long trip south to Plymouth this Saturday for their Sky Bet League 2 fixture. Plymouth are having a good season so far, sitting in sixth place. However, Carlisle arrive at Home Park on the back of three straight wins in the league, scoring seven goals and conceding none. These teams last met in the 2010/11 season with both games finishing 1-1, with late equalisers in both games. Plymouth are currently winning the head to head battle, as they have thirteen wins to Carlisle's eleven with eight draws between the two sides.
Carlisle are without Mark Gillespie, (Groin) Courtney Meppen-Walter (knee) and Danny Grainger who is suspended, meaning Matty Robson's return to fitness comes at a good time for Carlisle. Billy Paynter and David Amoo may also miss out, but at the time of writing i do not know how long they are out for. Carlisle also have three trialists in the squad at the moment, one of which is Derek Asamoah, and the others are an unnamed winger and and unnamed former FC Twente defender. Reuben Reid may not play for Plymouth due to being arrested last weekend, but he may be the only player to miss out for Plymouth this weekend through injury or suspension.
I expect Carlisle to stay with their 4-4-2 formation that they have played since Curle took over, with the only change they have to make is at left back with Danny Grainger suspended so Matty Robson will most likely come into the starting eleven. Other than that i would think Curle would stick with the same team, unless there are any new signings. Plymouth could play 3-5-2 after using that formation last saturday, although i have seen them play different variations of 4-3-3 this season as well.
This will be a good close game this one, with Carlisle winning three on the bounce and Plymouth winning five out of their last eight matches. I think it will end in a draw, 2-2.
